    Hi,

you need an audio interface with low latency drivers. RME, Focusrite, Presonus and Universal Audio are examples of companies making them.

That’s a lot of questions. I suggest a lot of reading on what midi is and how this works with audio etc as it will be a learning curve.
I don’t know what Alesis you have or if it has midi over usb? If it doesn’t have midi over usb then the audio interface will need to have midi interfaces as well. Basic instructions are: midi out of Alesis to midi in of audio interface. In sd3 settings choose the audio interface and the midi interface. Choose an edrum setting for your kit. Listen to the output from your audio interface.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I personally wouldn’t claim an audio interface can make it work until I knew you had decent enough computer specs. I recommend posting those as well.

I am using an alesis crimson pro 2. The module has a USB b output for MIDI. What kind of inputs and outputs would I be looking for on an audio interface for this kind of setup?

+1 on @shootie’s reply. A computer that doesn’t meet certain software and hardware specifications will be problematic, regardless of the interface.

What computer will you be running SD3 on? Processor, RAM, storage type (SSD, Spinning disk, etc).
