I am gathering equipment to trigger SD3 live from a thunderbolt 3 enabled macbook. What I have made an exhaustive and generally unsuccessful search to find out is this:
What is generally a minimum amount of CPU necessary to trigger SD3 live with a low buffer size and sample rate? i.e. How much horsepower will it take? I’ll be using a PreSonus Quantum 2 thunderbolt 3 interface, which I’m hoping will help quite a bit. This whole project will have a learning curve and it will be expensive, and while I’d like to save where I can, I don’t want to sabotage myself with a computer that won’t let me run the lowest realistic sample rate and buffer size reliably. Can I get by with something like a 2.5 Ghz i7 Macbook, which can be had for $700, or will I need even more processing power?
-Thanks in advance.
