We are looking into this matter, it seems to be because of too many added instruments…

We’ll post a reply when we have an answer 🙂

    Hi Henrik,

I received your email requesting me to send you the project file and audio files. However, the email address you reply me is “donotreply@toontrack.com”. Hence, am not sure where should i send you the files to.  Can you let me know your alternate address?

P.S: The project file is 156kb. The total audio files are 15Mb.

    Cheers,
    Jace 🙂

Please let me know if you can receive the project file. It seems no files are attached.

No files were attached to your previous post.

Can you put all files in a .zip file and try to post it as an attachment again?

If it won’t work, try to post just the project file.

Hope you can help to rectify the issues soon. Maybe SD3 can consider release a Chinese Percussion SDX which is not available now.

    Cheers,
    Jace 🙂

The crash is related to the amount of added instruments, and the number of mixer channels those create in the mixer.

For you to be able to continue to work you can either:

    • start another instance of SD3 in Logic and add more instruments there
      • Use an empty preset so no drums that you already have in the first instance takes up unnecessary memory and CPU

    or

    • gather instruments so they use a common mixer channel, instead of having each instrument having its own mixer channel
      • For example, send all instruments that are Taikos to one mixer channel.
        • In Mixer Tab: rename channel “Large Taiko 02” to “Taikos” – since this is the channel where all Taikos will go
        • In Drum Tab: right click the “Large Taiko Open 03” (the 4th added instrument) and select More > “Route Instrument Microphones…
          • (This is where you route instruments to different mixer channels)
          • Select “Taikos” in the Mixer Channels drop down list, so the instrument sends it’s sound to that channel (see attached screenshot)
          • Do this for each Taiko instrument in the list.
          • In the same way, you can gather all “Frog” instruments to one “Frog” mixer channel, etc.

Write back here if you need help with this 🙂

    Hi Henrik~

    Thanks for the reply 🙂

    – The 2nd method (gather instruments so they use a common mixer channel) did helps and i can continue to add more instruments after that. However, it will still crash when an estimated 35+ channels are loaded in the mixer. I guess I will try to control the amount of instruments and channels in mixer.

    – On another note, I don’t quite understand what you mean by
    1) “start another instance of SD3 in Logic and add more instruments there”
Do you mean Open Logic Pro program > Select Software Instruments > AU Instruments > Toontracks etc….?
    See attached screenshot.

    2) “Use an empty preset so no drums that you already have in the first instance takes up unnecessary memory and CPU”
Can you advise how to setup an Empty preset with no drums?

    Cheers,
    Jace 🙂

When you have an instrument track in Logic with Superior Drummer 3, you can add another instrument track in Logic which also has SD3. E.g., 2 instances of Superior Drummer 3 is running in Logic.

One scenario where this can be beneficial is when you have a normal drum kit loaded on one of the instances, and Latin Percussion on the other. It can be easier to handle the sound and the MIDI when those are separated – instead of having both drums and percussion in one instance of SD3.

You can set up an empty kit by going to the Drums and Mixer preset menu, and select Drum Kits > Clear All Instruments
