I’ve been creating some custom “grooves” (MIDI regions) with SD3. They all have the same name: “Hi-Hat Tight Edge.” How do I change these names to something will help me tell them apart? Each one has different patterns, yet I can’t tell which is which!
I see where you can color code the grooves, but I would like to be able to rename them so they don’t all say “Hi-Hat Tight Edge.”
Hi,
you mean on the Song Track?
That ‘name’ is reflecting what is the ‘Power Hand’.

Is there a way to change the name to something custom? I can’t imagine that Sd3 left that feature out when EZ Drummer has it.

You can rename your groove in the User MIDI library, which is similar to EZD. Right click the groove and select rename in the dropdown.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Hi,
you can always right-click a groove on the Song Track and select ‘Find > Select Containing Folder in Grooves’; this will open the folder and select the groove you have used.
Your other points are subject for the wish list in Requests & Feedback, I think.

Thanked by: NoBrunoHi John,
Thanks for the quick reply. “Select Containing Folder in Grooves” is helpful.
Also, thanks for letting me know about the Requests & Feedback thread. I will post my other thoughts there.

I also am looking to know how rename my grooves, so I know where the solo is etc;
Hi Jord
I have tried renaming my “User Midi” and “User Midi” folders by using the drop down list, but as soon as I click away from it, it reverts to the default name, ie, “track 1”, or “new folder”. It’s incredibly frustration to see the function there and yet it does not work. I’m having the same problem in EZD3 (version 3.0.6) and SD3 (version 3.3.6)
Regards,
Rick
