I’ve finally downloaded and installed the surround and surround height samples, even though I only have a stereo setup and never mix in anything but two channels. I’ve read elsewhere that the additional samples can be used to enhance the sound even in stereo. Can someone explain to me how that works? Now that they’re installed, will they be automatically incorporated into existing kits, or do I have to choose to do so? And how do I adjust the parameters for those additional samples?
Thanks,
Peter
Hi there,
Yes the additional tracks appear in your mixer. If you’re kits are routed to Out 1/2 then the additional channels will follow that configuration. If you use multi channels then they will routed to additional outputs and how you manage those are up to you within your DAW or hardware mixer outputs.
Adjusting parameters will be like any other track in the mixer, EQ, compression, panning, level, etc.

Thanked by: ShootieThanks so much for the quick reply, Brad—I see the tracks in the mixer now. So, essentially, the samples for each of those mics are activated when you turn on bleed (on a per-drum) basis for those mics, and otherwise they won’t play? Do I have that right?

Yes although you will see that some presets already use the “Height” channels, if they are available. Roomy > Slow Loud Big Rock, for example.
I sometimes use the “surround” channels to provide additional ambience.
