Can I change a setting that would limit the tracker riffs created to a typical 4 string, with no notes lower than bass E?
thanks, just starting to learn the ins and outs tonight

Steve, I only just thought of this, but in Pro tools there is a way to view midi as score, not sure about tab, but other apps convert score to tab. I’m sure protools is not the only daw that does this. So try drag your EZbass midi into your daw and go from there. Again having the 4 string limitation here would be most helpful.
another reason I want 4 string limitation is because I’d love to learn what EZbass is playing by watching it on the bass tab, and I use a 4 string bass. After I finish my song track I may wish to learn the part to record it on my real bass. This would be awesome for that. I’m not a real bass player, I’m a guitarist, but I like playing bass riffs.
Ezbass is good, but I really surprised there are only 5 stringed bass to choose ?, should be in the basic set 4 and 5
I was dismayed to see the GUI showing a 5 string bass (a specialist instrument IMO)
I play a little, still need the visual cue of where the E string is to orient myself, the extra string confuses me .
That’s not as EZ as it could be, eh?
I think toontracks decision to record 5 string Bass’s was a good one. Otherwise everyone would be complaining about not having the lower notes the 5th string provides. That said I’m a 4 string user myself, so my suggestion is simple, have a feature to not allow notes below the bottom E and to have a picture of a 4 string bass on the bass tab. Of course this involves work on their end, but not a great deal since there would not be a need to resample , only a new picture and a midi filter.

Great discussion. Wanted to weigh in for conversation. There is a Tonal difference between an E played on an open E 4 string and an E played on a fretted B string on a 5 string, and an E on a fretted A string on a 4 string. 5 String basses didn’t really start to appear until the late 70’s when Alembic, Ken Smith and (by his own admission) Michael Tobias built one. Arguably, the first production 5 string bass guitar was the Musicman Sting Ray 5 which debuted in 1986.
Having the “Modern” bass be 5 string is cool and makes perfect sense, but IMO forced into a “vintage” model (word on the street is a Fender Jazz Bass, which I’ve played and love) as a 5 string just seems off to me. I would love a feature option to limit at least the vintage model to 4 strings so it’s tonally accurate.
