How do I get the removed pieces from a kit to automatically switch?

I realize my question might be confusing, so I’ll explain…

In ezd2, if you removed a rack tom, for example, the software would automatically trigger that note on a different tom without you needing to change the midi note in the grid. In ezd3, if you remove a rack tom, for example, the software just doesn’t play that note at all…unless you move it to a different piece in the midi grid.

Not a huge deal, but I really liked being able to just make a kit smaller without having to move all the midi notes around to compensate. Is this an option that was fully removed, or do I need to adjust a setting that I’m unaware of??
