Hi everybody,
does anyone know, how I can change strings on EZ BASS? I mean, if, let’s say the note A is playing, how can I tell EZ BASS to play the open A-String or the lower E-String on the 5th fret?
Thanks
Stefan
The note samples are from the same sample pool regardless of how it “looks” on the interface so it really doesn’t matter which virtual string is played…in other words, the open A, and the same fretted A are the same.

Thanks for your reply. Well, that’s not really realistic…isn´t it.
But thanks anyway.

Thanked by: rictus and Alexander LazarevThis is really a huge disappointment. I thought that I might have loaded a lite version of the instrument with less samples used. “Sampled with painstaking detail …” – no, not really! Wish I had read this before buying…

Thanked by: rictus and Alexander LazarevQuite agree It’s a great program but that is an oversight which gives Trillian and other bass libraries an advantage in that area.
I used Scarbee Pre bass for a long time before getting Ezbass. If I really want that 12th fret E tone for a particular song I would use that after composing the song in Ezbass. You can pick a playing position using Scarbee.
You should be able to do this in Ezbass though. It is a bit fiddly to do if you are particular about bass tone.
Think of the bassline in All Right Now by Free just before the guitar solo kicks in. A classic example of bass strings being played high up on the neck and the tone that results from it…

Thanked by: rictusJust spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to accomplish this. I agree with the other users, this absolutely needs to be updated to include the voicings of different strings.

Thanked by: rictusWe really need hand position and different sound on different frets of different strings

Thanked by: rictusYawn – how many threads have we had on this?

Thanked by: rictusWell, I can only hope that Toontrack; if they do ever give in to this debacle; will still put out their EBX with just one A 440Hz sound and 5 strings for 75 Euros. I can’t imagine how much it would cost to do what you’re all asking for – so as long as I don’t have to waste my money on EBX’s with only four strings that sound the same as mine with five, and EBX’s with four different timbres of A 440Hz that get lost in the mix anyway go for it.
Huge disappointment. I did see this in a review on Youtube. Otherwise this information is pretty well hidden here in this forum which you can only access if you purchase the product. I did. So I can’t say it was a surprize.

Wow! That and the poor selection of chords makes EZBass not much more than a toy at the moment, in my opinion. It needs a serious update already.

Thanked by: rictus and djrbfmI really don’t anticipate ToonTracks going back into the studio and resampling all of the notes on all of the strings. They probably did this to simplify the programming which in my opinion was a bad decision. In addition to having to resample the notes, the different velocities and right hand articulations, they would need to add programming logic to decide which notes to play based on the hand position. This would be a significant change. I’m convinced it was on the table but they made the conscious decision not to do so in order to meet a certain price point in development costs. They probably figured that the majority of users wouldn’t miss this feature. I believe they underestimated how sophisticated their user base is.
It might be Superior Bass 2.0 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
