The EZ drummer interface’s “Amount” knob (for more or less playing instruments) would be a great parameter control to automate so I can gradually / naturally increase the “amount” of beats over the course of a song section. Otherwise it’s a manual operation loop by loop.
And actually the “Velocity” control would be my second parameter I’d love to automate.
Is this possible?
I do see a tiny drop down in the upper right of the “Amount” knob area that reveals two options: Reset Amount Value and Remove Midi.
I saw this same question posted for Superior Drummer in that forum but can’t access the reply thread as I don’t own Superior Drummer.
My DAW by the way is Studio One.
Thanks.
Hi Kevin. You must be talking about the Edit Play Style window, because I don’t know where else these knobs exists. What you’re hoping is incorrect about the “Reset/remove midi” on this page. Learn about the Edit Play Style feature here if you’d like… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwHj-Wjykt8&list=PLi47uknUXzCzQIFM7cdz5JW87zBDGcsWr&index=12
The only things you can automate will produce a “Learn Midi” dialog when you right click on them. Mostly what is in the Transport area and Mixer Tab.
If you wanted to manually control the velocity with midi blocks over time, my first instinct would be adjust each bock individually with the velocity slider (at the top of the Browser/Search tabs) before dragging to the Song Track. If that’s not accurate enough, do the same but in the Edit Play Style Window since you can control velocity by each individual instrument (more control). Or you could move your midi to StudioOne and automate velocity there. If you wanted to automate volume instead of velocity, that could happen the way you were hoping on the Mixer Tab, just not with Velocity. As you’ve guessed, it’s a manual process per midi block.
Wish I had better news for you, maybe someone else does.
