Hi all
Just purchased EZBass and I love the sound quality of the samples. Not so impressed with the audio to midi feature.
I have a song at 175bpm, not a complex track and attempted to convert the distorted guitar to bass……it became one long midi note.
I then tracked the guitar again with a DI using an ESP with EMGs and a Gibson with Seymour Duncan. Clear DI track but when converting both of these the system has all low E notes as one long note with both DI tracks.
Now if I turn on Variaudio in Cubase, align and convert the audio to midi it works. This proves that the DI track is clean but doing it this way loses all the articulation.
I own a bass but bought this to do that job for me as I am primarily a guitarist but it is actually more work using the plugin. It was faster recording bass and quantising my notes.
For those who have it working, how are you recording your track? Are you using Humbuckers or Single Coils, how are you finding the articulation works for you after conversion.
I own a lot of Toontrack products, this is the first time I feel a little duped by the no demo/not working as advertised platform. The last thing I want to do is start paying for version 2 to fix version 1.

Hi Mike,
a Clean DI guitar would definitely be easier to work with than a distorted guitar.
I like to have the ‘Amount’, “Articulations” and “Velocity” lanes visible when working with tracked audio, makes it a bit easier, I think.
Is there something in particular that you have problems with when converting to MIDI?

Hi John
Thank you for the reply.
Yes the DI track was certainly a lot better but very much off the mark.
To explain my issue:
When I recorded a DI track I played it back and recorded the audio as midi in EZbass.
Now let us say the rhythm was as simple as:
Low E: 0 0 5 3 5 0 0 5 5 3 5 0 5 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5
The first part before the repetition of 6 and 5 is just one long E note. Then it recognises the separate 6 and 5 notes so in essence I get midi showing
Low E: 0————6 6 6 6 6 6 5 5 5 5 5
If I take that DI track, load it into Variaudio, export the audio as midi and drag the midi into ezbass the notes are perfect albeit no articulation.
This tells me the DI track is fine, the midi that is extracted is fine from that audio is fine but the audio recording and conversion in EZBass isnt.
Going to try again later
