Hi Guys,
I’m very impressed with the Midi files that come with the EZX expansions. Since EZ drummer works but not “optimized” for using with EDrums are the guys at Toontrack using Superior 2 and triggering the EZX’s from an E-Drums to come up with the great Midi grooves.
There’s so much feel and nuance in there I can’t believe these grooves are be created from a keyboard. Anyone know how they are doing it?
Thanks,
DZ
Maybe someone involved with the process can chime in but, AFAIK, all of the MIDI except the Pop/Rock MIDI from EZD was recorded by an actual drummer played via an E-drum. The hi hat is then fed through a translator that transforms the CC hat data into the specific hi hat articulations (open 1, open 2, etc.)

Thanks Scott. Do you know if they used the plug in Superior 2 or EZ drummer when triggering the sounds for the EZX’s. Also do happen to know which Edrum kit they used?
I don’t know which engine they use when making the MIDI for the EZXs. I also don’t know which Edrum kit they use.

I can only answer for the MIDI recorded at the Toontrack HQ in Sweden (which doesn’t include many EZX:s).
We have used a TD20 module and a Hart Professional 6.4 kit. There’s a TD20 kit and a Pearl E-Pro kit laying around as well, so I think there are some mixing and matching going on, at least with cymbals.
All http://www.toontrack.com/product-category/midipacks/ except the Library of the extreme and the Jazz pack (I think) are recorded at the HQ.
