Host DAW Transport Control

Hi all,

Anybody know if there is a way to control host daw playback position from inside EZD3? I am using Ableton 12 and looking for a way to have my session play back from my current location in the EZD Plugin window.

As it stands, I have to navigate back into Ableton, select a new position in the song, then navigate back to EZD and hope I clicked the right spot.

YES I am aware of follow host function and I have it ON so EZD plays with the host

YES I know you can press shift+space to have EZD play back JUST DRUMS from a specific location in the EZD timeline.

That is SO CLOSE to what I am trying to do but I need to hear the instruments as well so I can tell if my drum selections work with my composition.

Anybody know a solution? Specifically with Ableton live, but if you can solve it in another DAW it is probably translatable.

I do it by having two monitors. One has my DAW, and the other has EZD. I can easily go between the two.

 

You might not want to buy a monitor for that.

In short, plug-ins cannot control their host environment.

One solution is to learn and utilize the transport and timeline key commands in your DAW to get around. Alternatively you can use a control surface to get around your DAW. Either way EZ Drummer will follow the host (when Follow Host is enabled).
