no matter what I do in the stand alone I don’t get the strings portion on the EZKEYS keyboard, it will still play the Electric 200A without changes, or should I say without the strings voicing. Am I doing something wrong? It worked last night but never again. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the same results.

Hi Frank,
The Keys and Strings MIDI is not a sound library. Since it is only MIDI it can trigger any sound library.
EZkeys Mellotoon is the Sound library that provides the keys and strings sound samples.

So I guess I was deceived into thinking that by purchasing this particular product (and I have purchased quite a few) that it provided the “strings”, when in fact, if you want to use this particular product, you have to spend the $179 dollars (melodeon) and then you can use this product as show in the examples (you website should reflect this). Thats a little misleading if you ask me. I think you have a good product, but when something like this happens to me I then question if I want to continue buying other products in fear that the “setup” is to get you to purchase another product to get the one you wanted. I’m disappointed by this.

Hi Frank,
We are sorry for the confusion but the product is listed as a MIDI pack. MIDI, by definition does not make sound on its own.. Its simply the “Gas” that powers the “Car.” Where in this example the EZkeys Mellotoon is the Car.This MIDI has been created to sound appropriate for string virtual instruments just as Toontrack’s drum MIDI packs are created to sound appropriate when triggering a drum Virtual instrument.

Re: [Toontrack] How do I move the sounds for EZDrummer 2 – Frank Castille
No kidding sherlock, I like you analogy, and I have one of my own. Your “Car” and “Gas” as you will, is similar to say a “Host” and a “Virus”. The host (person) “Car” is the vehicle by which any “Virus” (Gas) needs to replicate its DNA to survive. Now if I told you, lets use the influenza vaccine as an example, that the vaccine can be used to treat the flu. So you purchase hundreds of doses of the vaccine to protect the community you live in, but when you get it, you find out that it only treats influenza A, not B or other stains of the virus. You say, ‘hey, your advertisment said it treats the influenza virus?’ Yes, it does, but you need to purchase our specially formulated syringes that are coated with a special enzyme that activates the protein lesson the affects of the influenza B virus. I say that to say this and I quote your website:
“Keys & Strings EZkeys MIDI was created with the Mellotoon, its rich palette of sounds and music history in mind. However, it works just as well with any instrument in the EZkeys Line,”
This is not a true statement because the “Gas” you purchased to run the “Car” as you suggested, your site fails to tell the consumer, ‘Oh, but you still need to purchase the “Car”, you can run the “Gas” in the other “Cars” (I have the Grand Piano, Classic Electrics…etc) but it will not provide the same performance (“strings” sounds correctly) because you still need to purchase the correct “Car” in this case the Mellotoon. So in the future you might want to tell the consumer it works as advertised only with the Mellotoon, with the other products in the EZKEYS line it will not provide the the “strings” portion just the regular sound of the pack you purchased. So to that end I feel deceived by this practice, so you need to attach this product to the Mellotoon product ONLY, not to all the products, because it does not render the same if you don’t buy THAT product to run it.
I know I’m insignificant when it comes to amount of money you make off this product, but I won’t purchase anymore of your products, because as a consumer when I purchase something, I like to get what I paid for and not be told later that if you want it to work like we showed you on our site, then you needed to get this also, its kind of deceptive if you ask me. So it’t not the the “Best to Two Worlds,” but of one, tricky but it worked.

Frank,
You did get what you paid for, which is a MIDI pack. It does not state anywhere you are purchasing a sound library of samples for Keys and Strings.
MIDI can be used with any sound library since it is only data, however for the specific Keys and Strings samples you need Mellotoon. Keys and Strings MIDI was made to compliment the Mellotoon Sound library, but can be used with any EZK library.
Re: [Toontrack] How do I move the sounds for EZDrummer 2 –
So now your going to tell me I got what I paid for, and I’m a dissatisfied customer? Wow!!! Before I got my Masters Degree, and post-graduate degrees in Systems engineering, I did tech support work, and at one company and I was voted the tech support rep of the year. Why? because of my customer service. Does your company have a feedback page, I would love to show them how much your customer service suck!! If not I will find a way to make sure this particular email gets read. Trust me on this one. Mask email person. I won’t be back to ToonTrack, just for the updates nothing more.
This is stated on the page for Keys & Strings EZkeys MIDI
REQUIRES EZKEYS
PIANO MIDI FOR EZKEYS
It did not state that we must get mellotron. Misleading indeed. Reading the text doesnt help also
Yes, the MIDI does indeed WORK with EZ Keys, and it will play the “string part” in any expansion…it just won’t sound like strings UNLESS the instrument it is triggering provides a string sound. MIDI has been around for more than 30 years, and most people involved with using MIDI would understand that a “MIDI pack” only provides the MIDI data, and does not provide any sounds whatsoever, it sounds like you might be new to using MIDI and computer based instruments, and so the difference between a MIDI pack and an actual expansion got confusing. The SOUND is dependent upon whatever instrument is being triggered by the data. EZ Keys EXPANSIONS are actual INSTRUMENTS that have sounds, like the Mellotron, Vintage Upright, Electric Grand, etc… But the “MIDI packs” are just MIDI packs, that only include the MIDI performance data.
The good news is that you can still use the pack you bought by dragging the parts from EZ Keys to the timeline in your favorite DAW or recording software and then assigning those string parts to any VSTi you have that has string sounds. MIDI data is pretty universal, so you can use those performances with other instruments that you already own. If you still don’t like MIDI pack you bought, Toontrack does allow it to be re-sold and I might be interested in buying it from you for $19. Toontrack has a specific policy regarding re-sale and license transfers though.
Let me know if you are interested.
