Hi!
Is there a hihat manual which sample does what? Closed tip, closed edge, tight tip, tight edge…are tight tip and tight edge heavy versions of closed tip and closed edge?
When I use closed for slow parts with occasional kickdrum and snare, closed tip is ok…but during blast beats the samples at 127 velocities are way too soft…
I’d really like to know what samples to use or how it is played on a real hihat.

Thanks, Wolfgang! But I can only increase the overall level of a kit piece, e.g. the hithat and not for individual articulations, right?
Drumjack, so? I am just asking questions in my thread. Wolfgang has been really helpful. Why complain in my thread? The ride is loud…if it is barely audible, you either have faulty speakers or it’s your room or you think the ride cymbal is something else. Apart from the china cymbal, the ride is the second loudest kit piece in the video.

I’m listening on the JBL LSR 308’s in my studio. I know what a ride cymbal is and how it sounds and how loud it can get but with the blastbeats in your video it’s barely audible. All I hear is a ticking sound. Every other kit piece is WAY louder than the ride. It’s physically impossible when playing blastbeats to get really loud sounds from a ride as the hits are never hard enough to get a decent loud sound. They’d have to crank the mics in the mix to get it loud.
But hey what do I know – only been doing this for over 5 decades. Both sides of the glass.
