I don’t know if this has been covered elsewhere but I thought it may help a user or two here.
As we all know, higher and higher resolution displays on our laptops are becoming more and more common. Even full HD now seems quaint. My Dell XPS 15 has a resolution of 3200 x 18000 and that’s not unusual anymore. The result is that some software can open in impossibly small windows – rendering it useless. In my experience all Toontrack software falls into this category.
Fear not! There is a fairly simple solution.
The lowly manifest file.
Below is the text of an example manifest file. In fact, it’s the manifest file for my laptop – fixing EZdrummer 2.
Grrrrr. That was supposed to be MBP in the title.
EZdrummer64
false
Note the line toward the beginning that says:
“name=”EZdrummer64.exe””
That must contain the exact name of the executable file. A few lines below it is another place we need to enter the application name.
To use this file. Open a new, blank text file. Copy and paste the above into the text file and save it to the directory where the offending application lives.
In my case, that directory is:
C:Program FilesToontrackEZdrummer
The file must be named as follows:
Exact original executable name + .manifest.
eg.
EZdrummer64.exe.manifest
As mentioned before, it must reside in the same directory as that exe.
After the file exists and is in the correct location, all you have to do is launch the application normally and windows will take care of the rest.
There is ZERO danger in using this. It only gives windows a few instructions that tell it how to render. NO permanent changes are made to anything. If you don’t like the results, simply delete the manifest file and all will return to original state.
Hope this helps,
Greg

Well yes, if you don’t want a 200% Windows scale usually, that’s the way it is. (Or you could use the Magnifier.)

I could use a magnifier? That’s not only unsatisfactory it’s completely absurd.
I meant the application Magnifier that comes with Windows.

I find it very dissapointing and frustrating that there does not appear to be a fix for this issue. This is a simple ask – launch EZDrummer from a DAW (eg. Bitwig) and then have the ability to resize the EZDRUMMER window. I do not want to have to be constantly using scroll bars when working with EZDRUMMER . Toontrack Support, please can you provide the official solution. If a product enhancement is required please can you let us know when the enhancement will be implemented. Sorry if I have missed the solution, I am relatively new to EZDRUMMER and purchased it because of it’s great reviews. I can understand fundamental functionality like this missing from freeware, but not from a product that I have payed good money for. Note that I want a solution for EZDRUMMER only – I do not want to change the window behaviour for my other applications. Thank you!

Thanked by: Mark Hopkinscame here for answers on this. tried all suggestions. It’s still too small for what it is. if it was a compressor with big knobs or something it would be fine, but for editing midi drums? If it was even 150% it would be so much more usable…I wouldnt even care if it got a little aliased
Just bought EZ Drummer 2 and some EZX expansions only to realize it hurts my eyes to try and use this software. Not having the ability to resize is something you should make sure people understand before purchasing. To remedy this it appears I would have to upgrade to Superior Drummer it appears which would be another $320 on top of the $300 I just spent? If it was any other feature than resizing I would maybe understand but this software is unusable and clearly I am not alone here. As my purchase is less than a week old would you allow me to do an exchange to upgrade and I will pay the additional cost? Otherwise I feel like I honestly will feel like I just got conned out of $320. Please advise.
I purchased Toontrack Easy Drummer through my rep at Sweetwater. Upon discovering the resolution issue I contacted Sweetwater customer support who then referred me back to Tootrack who reccommended this fix. While it does work, it also effects the resolution universally and whenever you’re done using the program you have to go back into Windows settings to correct. Despite patches and changing resolution (contrary to what customer support says) this is obviously a glitch in the software so after months of dealing with “support”, in the interest of expedience, I had no choice but to upgrade to Superior Drummer. That having been said, I definitely feel like I was sold a “blind horse” by a “deaf seller”.
Good luck
I will to edit the .plist file and see what happens
It’s absolutely incredible that this issue exists & that Toontrack is seemingly doing nothing to rectify this. You shouldn’t have to be a programmer to get the app to work at a usable scale. Every single other app I use within FL I can resize with no problem. Had I of realized this before purchasing I would of refrained & explored other options. Its 2021 for fucks sake, this should be a non-issue.
I joined the EZ Drummer Facebook group exclusivly to see if there was some way to fix this issue. I have used the MS magnifier but that is a nightmare and can’t be used for a whole session. I don’t have anything to add except that I’m here speaking up that this is a very very frustrating issue.
Just piling on here that I am dumbfounded about this….
Windows 10. Latest version of EZdrummer 2. Running it in standalone. Am I seriously stuck with this small window and can’t just make the program full screen or resize it any way? At least without modifying my operating system in a way that I am not comfortable with, at all?
Like…. what?

Thanked by: bbiworldI am shocked that an expensive software solution does not know how to work in full screen.
Okay, so I’m much less tech savvy and didn’t understand how to fix this problem, if someone could spell it out one more time, quick and easy for the people in the back, it’d be much appreciated. I have a HP Specter 360 with a 4k resolution and any time I open EZ drummer 2 on FL Studio it is tiny, but when running the software on its own it is normal size. Please break it down for me.
Dude yall, is this for real? I was so happy to have found a solution to this and we get this “only those that really understand this stuff will get it” level explanation on how to fix?
I dont understand
This is outrageous. I just purchased EZ Drummer YESTERDAY to discover this nonsense. Will it be addressed in EZDrummer 3.0?
