I don’t know if this has been covered elsewhere but I thought it may help a user or two here.
As we all know, higher and higher resolution displays on our laptops are becoming more and more common. Even full HD now seems quaint. My Dell XPS 15 has a resolution of 3200 x 18000 and that’s not unusual anymore. The result is that some software can open in impossibly small windows – rendering it useless. In my experience all Toontrack software falls into this category.
Fear not! There is a fairly simple solution.
The lowly manifest file.
Below is the text of an example manifest file. In fact, it’s the manifest file for my laptop – fixing EZdrummer 2.
Grrrrr. That was supposed to be MBP in the title.
EZdrummer64
false
Note the line toward the beginning that says:
“name=”EZdrummer64.exe””
That must contain the exact name of the executable file. A few lines below it is another place we need to enter the application name.
To use this file. Open a new, blank text file. Copy and paste the above into the text file and save it to the directory where the offending application lives.
In my case, that directory is:
C:Program FilesToontrackEZdrummer
The file must be named as follows:
Exact original executable name + .manifest.
eg.
EZdrummer64.exe.manifest
As mentioned before, it must reside in the same directory as that exe.
After the file exists and is in the correct location, all you have to do is launch the application normally and windows will take care of the rest.
There is ZERO danger in using this. It only gives windows a few instructions that tell it how to render. NO permanent changes are made to anything. If you don’t like the results, simply delete the manifest file and all will return to original state.
Hope this helps,
Greg

This is astonishing, Toontrack have the time to send me an email every week to advertise something or other but in the last three years haven’t had the time to actually sort this damn thing out. And yet you still want money for your product?
I might still have some contacts at MS shall I drop them a line and get them to tell me how to write software that doesn’t say ‘yes’ to an HDPI aware request? Hey maybe if we all google it we might get an answer – perhaps a fundme page to get Toontrack a subscription to Google search – oh wait…!
Or maybe create a properly scalable interface – I believe you no longer have to have a black mass and sacrifice a virgin to do that kind of thing these days.
And, as is likely, you can’t do that can someone from the people that *I* have given money to for this inadequate piece of software write a manifest template for us with some clearly worded instructions as to how, we the users, cover for your rubbish coding, and perhaps add it to the fantastically pathetic FAQ page? I mean pointing us to a bloody adobe fix for your solution is a bit rich. And pretty bloody offensive when it doesn’t come with an apology – remember this ought not to be *our* problem.
I should have been aware this was going to be a dog when I saw that you need an *extra* piece of software (product manager) to handle the various installs of different bits software that make up the package. Just spent the afternoon trying to install superior drummer by stupidly running ‘install’ only then discover it only runs under toontrack solo? And when you do it manually it doesn’t know what folders to deliver them to…
Oh well back to Logic Pro…

Thanked by: bigtoneDear Support,
Even though using a 27 inch 4k monitor, each window in Toontrack solo appears to be too small.
Almost all the user’s myopia will become worse.
I want you to equip a scaling function for the health of eyes.

Thanked by: Roman MacBook ProI have to agree with all these post. I just got up and running tonight . I love the program but this is was too small to see. Especially for old ass producers. Come on guys.

Thanked by: Roman MacBook ProThe Link provided by Kirby Kuehl did the trick for me.
Well written, easy to follow, worked on first attempt.
I even learned something today!
Well, the manifest file worked for me but it made Cubase 10 pro’s text and most of the interface fuzzy on my 4k monitor. Not livable. Was nice to have EZdrummer larger for a few minutes though. 🙁
The EZdrummer 2 standalone contains such a manifest since version 2.1.2 so its window should get resized according to the Windows scale. This may not work if you have changed some “compatibility settings” in its properties.

Thanked by: Henrik EkblomSo it is now June 2019 and this is STILL a problem?!
I can’t scale EZ Drummer 2… Really?
Is this the upsell tactic to get folks to buy Superior 3?
C’mon man ?

What is the fix for OSX?

C’mon man ?
This didnt help me at all. still having the issue. I followed the step by step guide in the link. still nothin…
anyone have any suggestions… other than buying a giant magnifying glass ?
Since version 2.1.2, the size of the EZdrummer standalone window should follow the Windows scale without any manifest hacks. In Properties > Compatibility, including/especially in the high DPI subwindow, no checkboxes should (or need to) be ticked.

Hi,
I just bought pretty much all EZ products (black Friday deals), and was shocked to find out about it.. It was so tiny.
Start researching, but then found out that there’s a built in solution on Studio One.
Maybe it’s a known thing but I didn’t know about it (noob), so maybe it will help someone like me.
So for Studio One users: When you open the instrument vst
That’s it. Problem solved. It’s a bit blurry but much better.
I Just realized you meant properties on the .exe file… in any case I tried adjusting the scaling manually. its no longer the size of an iphone app… which is “better” but still not big enough for my blind eyes.
EZdrummer plug-in version 2.1.8 (build 21073) [64-bit VST]
Standalone host version 2.1.8 (build 21073)

Could you increase the Windows scale, perhaps? Right-click on the desktop to find the screen options for that.

Can you please give us the lines in the entire manifest file? Your reply talks about multiple lines in the file but we’re not sure of all the lines that should be in there. Thanks!
A manifest file is no longer needed, it’s included in the exe nowadays. But you may need to check the file properties > compatibility > DPI settings.
