If you’re programming and not performing live or editing a live performance, you use particular midi notes. I don’t think cc notes are relevant for programming in this case.

in EZD2 go to Menu>About Sound Libraries>Select your Product>Midi Layout.

Or Right-Click on the HiHat>Details and see the Articulation Notes.

*If you’re using the Trigger Articulations, not recommended for programming, then the CC4 data is applied to open and close the hats.

What is CC4 data? Does the manual explain all this?

Information coming from the drummers physical hihat pedal or midi controller. I doubt it, haven’t read it in well over 10 years though.

I am using a piano key map to program hits. For example, using the ‘C3’ key for an open hat strike.

My condition is when I program simple 1/4 notes in a 4×4, the first note rings then truncates milliseconds before the next 1/4 note (as if the hat pedal was suddenly pressed close).  This occurs with each successive beat.  What I want would be a natural sound of the subsequent note would play on top of the tail (ring?) of the preceding strike.

I’ve studied the midi map for EZ2 stock patterns which have this natural sounding open hat technique and it doesn’t look any different than the ones I try and insert, which truncate.

If it were not for the variety of great sounds in EZ2, I am at the point of frustration where I just want to mic up my kit and play the part.

What kit or EZX are you using?

Maybe in Studio one there is some CC data, if you don’t know where to find it to delete it,  try creating a fresh track.

EZ2 ‘Modern Basic’ kit.  I could not find anything in Studio One which indicated ‘CC’ data.  I have no idea what CC is or does.  I am guessing it is some extra control data?

I would forget about CC data unless you are using an edum kit or midi controller. I can’t define it any better for you.

Export your midi from studio one and attach it to your next reply.
