Hi guys, new to the toontrack family but just can’t find a solution for this and I’m SO tired tinkering and getting no where every day.
I have an Alesis Crimson 2 and just bought EZ Drummer 3 so I can plug into Garageband better. Now, for the most part it’s working well but this hi hat is just kicking my butt. And I can’t find any solution since the only in depth videos for hi hat control are with Superior Drummer.
The Issue: I play mainly with double bass pedals and I want the hi hat to just have a loose closed sound while the pedal is at full open.
I CAN change the tone to my preferred sound, but once I step on the pedal again, and try to play with a full closed hi hat, it just plays the tone I switched it too as if I’m not stepping on the pedal.
What am I doing wrong? I’ve adjusted the “max open and fully closed” slider but it does nothing. I have Alesis Crimson (crimson 2 isn’t an option) chosen in my midi mapping.
Edit: I am connected to my laptop with a Midi In/out usb cable.
If I can’t get this hi hat to just work as a hi hat I’m going to want my money back. I SWEAR I had it working once, but the next time I opened the program it just reset even though I saved it (which happens often I’ve had to remap my entire kit more than 3 times even though I saved it in preset). Please tell me someone has had this issue and figured it out.
Thanks!
Scott
I uninstalled and then reinstalled and that worked. A lot quicker in the long run than head-wrecking and time-consuming problems with the program itself.
It is rare to find any music tech software that just works always.

Thanked by: bwlsaqI must agree that sometimes it seems like the program forgets the saved set ups. I swear ive saved and come back the next day, drum triggers overlapping, like, 3rd tom and 5th tom, hitting the same drum yet was totally working right and saved it… the next day, nope.
Saving the user preset, and a project seem different, but like with much software, no instructions or not much instruction.
Really is dumb of software people to leave it to a forum to find answers. Although they do support the product well if you email them, some people answer
with one or two word replies or in a way that doesnt help.
Ive had it a month or so, still cant set my hi hats to work right, like, the pressure on my foot pedal to affect the hi hats, not working still..
There is a spot in the settings to tell it with drum set you have.
Go to settings, then E drum midi in at the bottom. Then select the toontrack standard (now in the middle of the screen) and select your kit if its there.
If its not… uggg. If it is, maybe try setting up a new preset based on this… (yea, its gonna erase all your other settings) wonderful huh?
