Have you selected Roland TD-11 in the presets list?

When you close the pedal, what does the Analyzer say, in the bottom left corner of the MIDI In Settings page? It should say what CC you hi-hat is using, when your open and close it.

    I’m having the same issue.

Roland TD-11 is set as the preset, the analyser shows that CC1 and CC4 are what the hi-hat is using and the ‘pedal openness’ looks like it is detecting the pedal movements.

When I start calibration, the text on the right still says it is listening for hi-hat pedal movement as if nothing is happening at all.

Despite setting up SD3 with the TD-11 preset, it’s nearly impossible to record because the software seems to just cook it and put in extra notes or the hi-hat doesn’t behave like it should – or like it did when it was recorded. I usually give up and put the stuff in manually just because it is so incredibly difficult to make this software work with the kit like it should and I feel like I have tried everything.

Does it work if you select CC4 on the left column, then run the calibration? The CC that’s selected in the left column is what will be listened too…

What hi hat are you using? If it is the vh11 then the module doesn’t send the full range of cc values unless you change it to do so. I don’t know where this setting is in the td11 so you will need to take a look. This doesn’t impact on how the hi hat works with its own sounds.

I’m struggling with the same issue, but on an Alesis Nitro, in Logic Pro 10.2. Neither the “Pedal Openness” nor the “Snare Hit Position” bar go up & down, no matter what I try.

I hear the sounds perfectly in my headphones (they are matched to whatever kit I choose in SD3), the MIDI e-drum Analyzer settings are working, the sensitivity is all set perfectly on each pad (which I set up on the Alesis screen). And as I gradually bring the hi-hat pedal up and down, the transition sounds super smooth in my headphones. But the main issue is that when I record hi-hat, the MIDI data is only capturing 3 notes total. Hi-Hat Open, Hi-Hat Half Open, Hi-Hat Closed. So this is a huge problem, because I’d want the captured data to take advantage of SD3’s amazing levels of hi-hat openness (tight, closed, open1, open2, open3, open4, open5, open6)

The Alesis manual says its triggers are:
    Hi-Hat Open: 46
    Hi-Hat Half-Open: 23
    Hi-Hat Closed: 42
    Hi-Hat Pedal: 44
    Splash: 21

Did anyone have any luck with troubleshooting this yet?

I have same issue with Rolqnd TD 17 module. I don’t see anyone from TT jumping in on this one.

have you chosen the preset. Also what hi hat are you using. Some modules also have an offset for a vh11 which stops at a lower cc value. Check if it’s set to 127 on the module.

Yep, I’ve chosen the roland td11 preset.  Also, definitely set to 127.  I’ve been dealing with this issue for a long time.

I think some directions in the manual about using the “calibrate” function would have been helpful, as I don’t know if it’s working or not. When I click the calibrate button then step on hi-hat, let off then step down again, it doesn’t seem like anything happens, but the value for the hi-hat fully closed position changes from 127 to 80 (in my case). Maybe this is all that’s supposed to happen.

What I do know is that I need to tweak the hat on every startup in SD3, whereas in EZD3, I have no issues.

That’s odd as I’ve calibrated my hi hat once and saved a preset and never done it since.
