I have the Roland TD50 with the digital PD140s snare. I am trying to understand what the difference is between using “Snare zone trigger” in the MIDIin/E-Drums settings mapping, vs using the cc zones 1,2 and 3 to trigger center, edge and rimshot. The way I understood it: snare zone trigger can be used with the higher-end pads like the PD140s, so it is automatically detected what type of articulation should be triggered. When creating snare stacks, does this apply to the stack too? Or would I still have to create a stack for each articulation? What is the point of snare zone trigger then, if it essentially does the same as dividing up the snare into 3 zones?
I noticed this because I was looking at something I recorded on edrums in the grid editor, and most of my snare hits were on the zone trigger line way at the bottom of all snare articulations, and I dont get it…doesnt zone trigger assign every hit to some articulation? It looks like it is its own articulation. Hope this makes sense…
Any help is much appreciated!
