I can understand the confusion, this is however not how the song creator operates, it actually uses all your available MIDI to try and find different matching parts to give you suggestions based on the file you used as input, it will not use variations from only the same song since that would be equal to just browse through that song folder, it will instead try to be smart about it and select loops that could create some interesting song writing choices.
You can right click the different files and select “Show in browser” and you will notice that the results are not only from the “Slightly Heavy 78 BPM” folder (Maybe, it depends on what MIDI you have and how it relates to the source file)
This is also the reason why some of your input files end up as intro and others as verse, it all depends on what it finds and where you source file fits in that list of suggestions.

If you just want to use verse/chorus etc from that particular song its much better to just use the browser.

If you want to list everything from that song (as I guess is what you are trying to use the song creator for) you can multi select folders by holding down cmd and then you can click the name column to sort on name to get it better organized. See picture.

    Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks so much for your concise explanation – that helps a lot and has made much more sense of the song creator. The only thing I still can’t get my head around is why it would categorise a ‘Verse 1’ groove as a Verse but a ‘Verse 4’ groove as an intro, considering the variations between the grooves are minimal and the ‘Verse 4’ groove is more complex?

Actually now that I think about it, that is a bug, in EZD2 if you use a verse it will always end up as a verse in song creator.
I will fix that, thanks for making us aware of it! 🙂
