Hi there,
How was the marching band recorded? Was each section close mic’d?
This is an over simplification as there’s more about the recording that I don’t know than what I do.
So, I would look out for the Upper-Mids and High Frequencies attenuating/reducing harshness. I am a big fan of using an narrow band EQ to find those harsh tones and bring them down.
Of course be mindful of the low mids as well (they can get muddy fast).
Make sure the percussion transients are coming through, of course a little easier said then done unless that section is close mic’d.
