Howdy, All…
If this topic has been addressed here already, please kindly point me in the general direction of the response so I won’t belabor the forum with redundant questions.
I am running Superior Drummer v 3.1.7 with Reaper 6.12c/x64 on Windows 8. 1.
I have tracks (not drum tracks…other instruments/vocals that were cut to a click track) that I have recorded that I would like to add drums to. I am not a drummer, and this is not a question of my wanting to substitute my own recorded drum tracks with samples from the SD3 Library. I merely want to drop a recording (either a mixed stereo track or separate tracks) on to reaper…sync SD3 with it and write my own drum tracks. Only one or two of the videos I watched really directly addressed when I want to do…and they were both so vague about the initial steps I couldn’t pick up on what they were doing. One of the videos addressed the “follow host” button…a feature which seems to be missing from my version of SD3 …unless it only appears when you run SD3 as a plugin to Reaper or some other DAW.
My immediate thought is that the answer is out there…but I’m not asking the question in such a way that would get me the response I was looking for.
Thanks in advance for any direction you could provide…

I use the latest versions of both SD3 and Reaper running under Windows 10.
While I own quite a number of Toontrack MIDI groove libraries I still program most of my own drum tracks.
I use Superior Drummer 3 as a VST plugin on a track in my Reaper project. I do all my drum programming inside Reaper using the internal Reaper MIDI editor. I find this method of workflow to be easier, less confusing and less complicated than trying to program drum tracks inside the SD3 midi editor. And with SD3 running as a virtual instrument within Reaper I have complete control over the drum mix as well.
If you’d like to try this process I’d be happy to help you get started.
Thanks, GV, I think I’ll take you up on that…

Ted, I’ll put together a tutorial video of how I program drums using SD3 in Reaper. Give me a few days. It won’t be anything fancy, just enough to get you going.
From your profile pic looks like we’re pretty much contemporaries. I do a lot of home studio recording and have a Youtube channel for sharing my home made music videos of classic rock cover tunes. My stuff is really popular with friends and family 😀
Sorry, it’s been a bit since I’ve been on here…other pressing issues have precluded my getting back to the task at hand…Ill check out those videos…thanks!

Hey, I was really digging on your youtube channel…The production is great…performance, too…really loved the sound of your backup vocals, how they blended, and he guitar and bass….how were you running the electric guitars?
