Has anyone gotten a good heavy Nickelback setting with EZD3?

I checked out NB songs and heard three different snare sounds in the first three. Which song do you want to copy?

You’d probably get a closer result with the Rock Solid EZX considering that Randy Staub was Nickelback’s engineer and Ryan Vikedal was the drummer.  Not to mention that Ryan’s grooves helped shape Nickelback.

If the snare on Burn it to the Ground is what you mean by ‘squished’, the 8×14″ Ludwig Black Magic Damped in Rock Solid is somewhere near it. It’s in the Dunnett Ludwig kit.

Get Rollin is using the Death and Darkness SDX. If the picture serves me correctly, the snare would be a Tama Bell Brass snare. That is available in most rock expansions. Rock Solid, and possibly Hard Rock, will get You there sonically.

Also worth remembering is that it won’t sound like Nickelback unless it is played like Nickelback.

thanks Jord, yeah I know, sounding like NB requires their drummer, like looking for a guitar plugin to sound like (insert artist) 🙂

Hoping to get “in the ballpark” with EZD3, almost every kit sounds too bright, if I’m writing bright pop songs that’s one thing, but…lol

Thanks for the help! Though for the death and darkness SDX I have to first upgrade to SD3 for $300 🙁  …or try to get close to it in EZD3 with help from you guys 🙂

As posted above, you’re more than likely to get what you’re looking for in Rock Solid and Hard Rock EZXs.

If you went with the Superior Drummer route to get the sound (and preset) of Get Rollin as shown above, they are using an SDX on top of Superior Drummer so you would need to factor this into your costs as well
