Hi there!
I am wondering if there is a way to use more than one MIDI device with different MIDI mappings at the same time? I want to expand my drum module with an additional trigger or drum module and map the MIDI notes from the new device to different sounds. I don’t want to change the MIDI notes of my main device and the new device may not have the option to change the mapping.

Hi,
currently this is not possible, SD3 can’t split mapping per device, you would need 2 instances in a host for this.

I run a TD-20 with midi thru into a TD-3 and then into the computer. I did have to change a number of midi settings on the TD-3 to prevent duplication of midi notes. It’s a bit cumbersome, but you only have to do it once. This way I get a boatload of additional trigger inputs.

I managed to use two devices now with using loopMIDI and MIDI-OX and doing the translation in MIDI-OX. This is a lot of configuration work too, but it can be saved as a preset. This solution is also good in handling different translation presets for tom mappings with 1..3 rack and 1..2 floor toms.
