This is just one example that points to a larger problem that I’m having with the software. Let’s say I want quarter note beats on the “open tip 4”, but while playing my Roland TD-17, I accidentally close the hats a bit. The obvious solution would be to drag those hits on the grid editor to the sound profile that I want, “open tip 4”. However, in playing the track back it is still registering the closed hi hats, however there are no beats in that location in on the grid editor. Even if I delete that hit from the grid editor and click directly on “open tip 4”, it still registers those non-existant closed hi-hat hits…none of which show on the grid editor, which gives me no way of deleting that without deleting the entire sequence and either playing it again or just punching every hit in manually on the grid editor.
What am I missing? How do I get the grid editor to remove those phantom hits and do what I want it to do if they aren’t anywhere in sight? I’ve attached a screenshot that I took while playing back a midi recording. It shows that SD3 is playing multiple sound files, despite there being no such hit on the grid editor. You can see that open tip 1, 2 and 4 are all simultaneously.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Check your CC4 values in the grid editor which is the hi-hat open/close information. You can find that in the drop down menu just below all the instrument lanes. Once CC4 is selected, the higher the dots on the CC4 lane, the more closed the hi-hat sound will be.
