I have EZD 2. Several years ago I recorded a bunch of songs in Cakewalk 4 and 6 using the original EZD. Now, when I play those songs back (in Cakewalk 4), using EZD2, not everything is mapping correctly. And for some of the ones that do map correctly, the mix is way out of whack.
Is there an easy way to – essentially – tell EZD 2 to behave like original EZD, at least in terms of mapping and mix on stuff that was recorded using original EZD?
What’s interesting is that when I load songs in Cakewalk that were recorded using EZD 2, the kit selected is EZdrummer 2. Modern | Basic, and the mapping and mix is fine. If I change the kit to Original Mix, there’s no change in how it sounds… When I load songs that were recorded using original EZD, the kit selected is EZdrummer 2, Modern | *Original Mix (the asterisk is not added by me; it’s what’s showing in EZD 2 and I have no clue what it means), and the mapping and mix are off. If I change the kit to Basic, the mix and mapping are still off, the volume is lower, but the kit otherwise sounds the same.
So in short, I have no idea what’s going on here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I am not sure what’s going on either because there is no change in the MIDI mapping layout from EZdrummer 1 to 2 (or 3 for that matter). All versions use and extended GM standard. Unless you have used an EZX that has had update fixes and you didn’t apply them but in general, there should be no problem.
An asterisk appears when there’s a change made to the preset. Please check your MIDI track for other messages than notes but TBH, I am not sure what could be MIDI controlled in the original EZD.

John

EZdrummer version: 1.4.0
Operating system: Windows 7
There is no EZD1 to EZD2 upgrade available since both of those products are discontinued.
You can purchase an upgrade to EZdrummer 3.
