Hey Folks,
I solved this problem as I was typing this post. If you have this same problem my fix is given at the bottom of this post.
After updating SD3 to 3.15 I am getting the message:
—————
“The installed resources and the plugin are not of the same version.
Plugin version 3.14
Version of resources 3.15
Please reinstall Superior Drummer 3”
—————
The SD3 stand alone version was working fine. This problem only happened with the Plugin . (Cubase Pro 10.0.40 – Windows 10)
I did the original 3.15 update from the Toontrack Product Manager but I see no way to update or reinstall SD3.
Thanks!

[SOLUTION] It seems that the Toontrack Product Installer put the 3.15 .dll in a different place. By doing a search of my entire boot drive I found that there were indeed two SD3 .dll files on the drive.
The 3.14 .dll location was: Program Files/Steinberg/VSTPlugins.
The 3.15 dll location was: Program Files/Common Files/VST3/Toontrack
Simply replace the 3.14 dll with the 3.15 dll, restart your computer and all is fine.
Hope this helps someone!

Hey,
Well, that’s not the solution we would recommend. You should never move the installed VST dll because every update will write it to the original place – and the standalone will stop working as well. Instead, you should add its path to the paths that Cubase (or any DAW) looks for VSTs in. To find out what the path is, you can open the standalone and select “Show Plug-In Path” from the Help menu.

Thanked by: m.hermann and rnrfantasyThanks for the response, Olof!
First of all, it’s simply amazing that Toontrack has moderators and even coders that follow this forum to help us all out. It’s one of the things and makes Toontrack different from the competition. The quality of everything in SD3 is, well… superior! The GUI is totally intuitive. Everything works exactly how I would expect it to. It’s just a great job all around. So thanks for that! I now have two other professional virtual drum plugins that just gather electron dust while sitting in my computer! 🙂
So, as you’ve probably surmised, the stand-alone version was using one .dll (3.15) and the plugin version was using another. (3.14). Since SD3 had been working perfectly since I first installed it, and I don’t remember ever changing the dll from its original location, (however, the older I get, the more I forget!) it was the newly installed dll that was in the wrong place from my point of view. Could it be that my SD3 was an upgrade from EZ Drummer2?
Either way, I totally get it all now. And when/if 3.16 (or any new version) comes out I’ll remember the correct fix for this problem.
Thanks again, Olof!

Thanked by: Henrik EkblomI had to use a backup to install the Superior Drummer 3.dll file back to Product version 3.1.4 and the Superior Drummer 3.exe product version 3.1.6
It opens fine now. No idea what is going on but I really appreciate the help. I am afraid to update again to be quite honest.
I am now able to open it in my DAW as well as the standalone with no issues.
Thanks again everyone.

BTW, I had to use my same solution when updating from 3.15 to 3.16. No big deal though

Hi there ! I have the same problem going on with the newest version. I did all that was recommended to find the source of the issue. I only found 1 sd3.dll file and it’s the one updated to the newest version.
Still Reaper is telling me that it cannot load the vst cause the plug-in is still the old version…
The paths of both reaper dans the standalone refer to the same dll at the same place
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it all, nothing seems to solve the issue…
Please help, have I missed something ?
Thanks

Does it work in the standalone?
What you mean that Reaper is telling you that it cannot load the vst? Screenshot?

My guess is the “bridge” that Reaper is using. Not sure why it’s using a bit bridge if you’re using 64-bit Reaper. Or are you using 32-bit Reaper?

Apparently you have a Superior Drummer 3.dll version 3.1.7 in one of the other VST paths that Reaper is using. Look in those paths.

Try remove that path from Reaper and see if you can still open SD3. If you can, Reaper uses another path by default. If you can’t, maybe there is a renamed Superior Drummer 3.dll in the same folder as the real Superior Drummer 3.dll.

Ok i removed the path and cleared all my plug ins… I rescanned only SD3 and it works… I’ll do a full scan of all my plugins to check if it’s still ok
Thanks for you help and for your time 🙂
Cheers
Same problem…should Toontrack not have offered an update/fix by now.
Hi Peter,
could you please elaborate exactly what you are having problems with?
Did you copy or move the .dll post install? Did you check any of the advice given here in the thread?
Which OS and host are you using? Which version number is displayed in the Standalone app and the plugin window?
BR,
John

Hi here’s mine and note I am a little computer challenged so small words please.
The installed resources and the plug-in are not the same version! (love the !)
Plug-in version: 3.2.5.
Version of resources: 3.2.6.
Please reinstall Superior Drummer 3
I had to send my laptop out for repairs right after installation. I had moved SD3 to an external drive and all was good. When I got it back and opened Logic it couldn’t find anything and reinstalled SD3 in my Applications folder. This was 2 months ago all has been fine.
Today it did an update and I got the above message. I have drum tracks I presume in the 3.2.5 version I would like not to lose so I am here looking for help before my next move.
