[Fruity Loops] Newb needs setup help for step sequencer

Hello- newb here. New to EZDrummer, new to Fruity Loops. I’ve just installed FL Studio 10.

I’m trying to set up a template where each piece of the kit has its own channel in FL. I know how to add EZDrummer but I want separate channels for kick drum, snare, hi hat, etc.

There is a template available for download on this site that is almost exactly what I want, but the primary channel is made for dragging and dropping midi patterns, and the other channels are “layers.” I don’t want to drag and drop midi. I just want to use the step sequencer to build the beat. I’ve looked to see if this is covered anywhere on these forums, but the only info I’ve found assumes either a familiarity with FL or EZDrummer.

Could someone give me a newb friendly step-by-step for how to do this? Or maybe just tell me how to take the template I downloaded here and change the attributes so that the channels aren’t “layers?”

What’s the problem with using the separate layers? You can use the main channel for step sequencing as well.
This is more an FL Studio query than EZdrummer though, so I guess you will find better help quicker over at the FL Forum.

you cannot do it that way. fruityloops only works with ezdrummer after you have 1) created your beat on fruity loops. 2) mixed it down to a midi file. 3) imported the midi file back into fruity loops. 4) adding ezdrummer and assigning it to your seperate fl tracks.

never had to do it that way when I was working with FL. Sounds way too complicated to me.
