I have copied midi to the grid editor in EZBass so that I can apply the changes such as pull offs and slides that can only be done there and not in the Cubase grid editor. The problem is that every time I want to play edited midi from EZBass, it stops following Cubase and being in sync with the track there. I’ve deleted the midi from Cubase, but EZBass is still saying that there is similar midi in the DAW and stops following the host because of it (see attached image to see what I mean).
Is there a way that I can override this or force the midi from EZBass to always be played and follow the host?
A 1.0.4 version has been released, try the update to see if it has been fixed.
Alright, thanks for that!
Btw, I managed to fix it, but I had to do something kinda weird. For some reason it was disabling itself after the second hit of the bass in the song, so I had to delete that 2nd midi note from EZBass’ grid editor and then bring back the offending note in my DAW instead, and that prevented the problem from occurring again. Very strange, but I managed to fix it that way. If it’s a bug and it has happened to to others then hopefully they’ll be able to fix it this way too until an update fixes it!

Thanked by: donskillsThis feature is there to avoid playing MIDI from multiple sources (both the EZbass song track and Cubase MIDI track) at once.
Are you sure that there was no MIDI playing from Cubase?
When Follow Host got automatically disabled for you – did EZbass go silent or did it continue to play something?

Hey Henrik,
I made sure that there was no midi playing from Cubase that was identical to the midi in the EZBass grid editor. I actually deleted the offending Cubase midi bass track to make sure.
When the second bass note of the song played, follow host was disabled and the track stopped playing entirely in the grid editor (but in Cubase the track kept playing without the bass).
There was no identical midi in Cubase and follow host stopped disabling itself after I removed the second note from the EZBass editor and had Cubase play it instead. So basically the first note was played by EZBass, the second by Cubase and then the rest by EZBass again and then it worked. I can only assume it was some kind of bug.
Can you post a screenshot (or screen capture movie) of EZbass and the Cubase track in the situation where this happens?
Or post a Cubase project where this happens? This project will only need to have an EZbass track, so it doesn’t get so big…

Getting the exact same thing happening! in 1.0.4 too!

What DAW, and version of it, are you using?

I’ve tried to upload just the bass track, but it is still too big. I can send a WeTransfer if that helps?
EDIT: Here is a more specific screenshot…
Will make a WeTransfer now.

Even when the midi was deleted from the bass track in Cubase the issue was still occurring on just those two notes. See if you can get this link to work and you can have a play around in Cubase and hopefully the same thing happens so it will show what I mean!

If I understand the screenshot correctly, then it indicates that you have MIDI both in EZbass and in Cubase, which is what the automatic disabling of Follow Host function is there for to prevent.
If you have MIDI in both the EZbass Song Track and on the Cubase track – the EZbass audio engine will receive and play the same notes from two sources simultaneously – which can lead to strange audio artefacts.
So – you should decide where you want to have your MIDI – either in EZbass or in Cubase – but not in both.

I get the same issue you are describing when I use your project, so we will investigate why this issue occurs. Thanks for the info!

Bump! New EZBass user. I have the same issue, I’m recording an exisiting midi file from login into EZBass, and it decides to turn of Follow Host every one in awhile, seems like it happens at the beginning or ending of certain notes.
