Am I missing something? I dont understand how this is possible after so many years. Each and every single time I edit a preset and learn the Mute Tail note, and SAVE everything, i come back to find my mute triggers a Mute Hit note instead. Mute Tail isn’t even available in the list of notes in the Midi Mapping setup, which explains why it isnt actually saved to the preset. Do you think after 10 years you might be able to make this work finally? I have to load a REAPER session and rely on that just for a jam because SD3 standalone refuses to save my settings correctly.
Hi,
why aren’t you simply using the AfterTouch for Mute Tails, which is the Default? Which kit and module are you using? Isn’t your kit and module sending AfterTouch when pinching the Cymbal?

I’m using an Alesis Strike and the module has only a simple “Choke Sent” on or off… the MIDI note, etc are not editable so i have to rely on the midi monitor to figure out which note to map, or click the instrument, and select the Mute Tail articulation, and click Learn. Why isn’t it saved in the preset? That seems like an oversight.
Out of the box, or even with the Alesis Strike midi map presets loaded, the chokes do not work properly – they trigger a Mute Hit which is basically a choked crash articulation, so imagine if you will, a crash is being played …its ringing out… and then you do a choke hit… thats what happens.
So when you say “Why aren’t you simply using the AfterTouch” – that’s why. Evidently, the Strike module doesn’t behave that way.
