    Hello Dan,

I got both the Rock and the Nashville expansions and I’m pretty happy with both of them. My favorite would be the Nashville EZX which sound really great for most rock music. I got some other expansions too but the ones I use the most are the original EZ2 kits, the Nashville and the rock EZX.

So if budget is no concern I would get both of them.

Also remember that you can mix the kits you have, for example you can use the toms from the Rock EZX and the snare of the Nashville and the kick from the original EZ drummer.

It’s not that the expansions are an “improvement”, they’re all great for what they do, they’re just different and have different sounds.

    Greetings Dave

Thanks for the reply. The Nashville would be a good start.

There’s quite a few different rock EZX’s but I think Rock! is a good balance between Big Rock Drums, Classic Rock and more modern sounding prog/metal kits.

    Thanks

    Dan

    I think that’s a good choice.

I also have the classic rock, the vintage rock and the pop/rock expansions, but most of the time I use the original EZ drummer and the Nashville EZX.

The classic rock and vintage rock kits are good but they are a bit dark sounding to me.

The next one on my list will probably be the Classic EZX.

    greetings Dave

Guys, how do I get the original drum kit with the expansions? Eg. I can change the kits to Modern, Vintage and variations for each, but that changes the sound completely. I don’t see a default setting for the original kit recording.

    Thx.

    Anthony

Would have thought there’d be an ‘Original mix’ preset for each expansion.

    Don’t know as I haven’t any expansions

    installed yet.

Sorry, by expansions, I mean midi packs.

Not sure what you mean “original kit” and then mean “MIDI packs”. MIDI can be played by any EZD or EZX kit.

Yes. But I mean as close to the original kit as recorded.

Still not sure what you mean.

Are you talking about kit sounds or MIDI grooves?

There is an Original Mix preset that is basically no effects and is original as you can get.

True, but you can still change from Vintage to Modern on the kits. So just go for the sound you like then?

Basically yes. That’s pretty much the beauty of Midi in that you can apply it to whatever type of kit you’d like.
