I have Ezx and various expansion kits installed on my DAW as well as the laptop. On the DAW, I am not able to drag and drop a patch from the GUI to the MIDI track. A window pops up saying ‘cannot find or open file’. The GUI plays all patches just fine…just can’t drag them to a track. I can, however, drop MIDI files from a regular folder onto a track and EZx plays them normally. What is the disconnect here?
On my laptop, same OS, EZx GUI does not lock tempo with the host sequencer, Sonar 8.5. IOW, when previewing patterns, the GUI will only play at one tempo, regardless of the tempo setting in the host sequencer. However, once the MIDI files are pasted onto a track, EZx does lock tempo when the host sequencer is running the track and all is well.
So, I’m stuck with EZx only usable on the laptop…but only having one preview tempo is a real bummer. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
All these are updates and Daw issues as EZ will do all this smoothly on a system 100% .
Hello Juicy, your response seems to imply that my systems may, in some way, be operating in a somewhat less-than-perfect manner, thereby resulting in the less-than-ideal performance I’m seeing with EZx….Duh…. There’s no question in my mind that these are issues with the host systems.
Having used EZx for several years now, I’m fully aware of EZ’s capabilities as well as its dependability…I simply hope that someone here, who might have a clue as to the cause of these problems, will be able to point me in the right direction so I can get these pesky computer issues resolved.
Speaking of “system 100%”, I can’t say for sure that one of those actually exists. Food for thought. Thanks for responding.
Not sure about the first point, however with the preview being at a different tempo to the host, there is a button when you’re browsing grooves which will lock it to the tempo it was originally recorded at, and it overrides the sync to host. It’s a way of making sure the grooves are playable, or if your tempo is high, you can hear what the groove was supposed to be like and import it in say 1/2 speed etc.
Fancy divulging some specs? OS version etc?
Also to the toontrackians, what’s used to program the front end GUI? I’ve had issues in the past with runtime environments (such as Java/C++) not being up to date, or in a pretty crap scenario, I had to download a specific version of Visual Studio just to get the thing from crashing my host (other plugins that is)

Hey Volitian, I’m aware of the three buttons, half, full and double tempo but I don’t see a way to lock/unlock EZ’s tempo with the host. Am I missing a button? EZ GUI seems only to know one tempo until it’s being played on/from the host’s track.
Hi,
we need to know system specs on both computers as well as info on plugin version number(s) reported in the plugin interface.
The Tempo button VOLiTiAN is referring to is found in EZplayer Pro and Superior 2, not in EZdrummer.
Best Regards,
John
