Dear all,
Some help if you please.
Having had the brain fart to tidy my computer, I have reinstalled EZDrummer 2, Superior Drummer 2.0 (Cross Grade) and EZMix 2. The previously installed versions functioned without issue (yes, I know, why change it then? – it was part of a bigger plan which is now a huge burden rather than a big plan…)
After the installation, EZDrummer and Superior Drummer show in the ‘inserts‘ of ProTools MP I use, both under “multichannel plugin > instruments” option yet there is no sign of EZMix, which should live under the “effects” option accessed the same way. Infact, there is no “effects” submenu of the ‘inserts‘ showing at all.
This is the same for new projects and for exisiting projects which have active recordings across several tracks using EZMix. One example older session produces the error message: “The following plug-ins were made inactive because they could not be found in the plug-ins folder: EZmix(7)”, and EZMix sits there greyed out in the inserts column looking all sorry for itself.
I am aware of the 32/64 bit issue with ProTools M Powered and believe it needs to be the 32 bit version installed to work regardless of operating system etc. however have installed both on the off chance it might somehow make things work.
Using the EZMix 32-bit Installer.exe application, I installed to the default: C:\Program Files(x86)\VSTPlugins\Toontrack\ and that folder now contains EZdrummer.dll, EZkeys.dll and EZmix.dll
Some research with Dr Google tells me that the folder located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\DigiDesign\DAE\Plug-Ins should contain the files EZmix.dpm and EZmix.dpm.rsr however it does not. It does however have the associated EZdrummer.dpm & .dpm.rsr and EZkeys.dpm & .dpm.rsr files.
A search of PC did not locate EZmix.dpm as I hoped I could find it and move it.
So, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Andy
EZMix version 2.2.1
ProTools MP9 9.0.5
Windows 10 Home
UPDATE:
I have uninstalled both the 32 and 64 bit versions and using Product Manager reinstalled the older 2.1.5 32 bit version only. This works, on both new projects and old projects, EZMix is found by ProTools MP9.
However, if I then update that installation to version 2.2.1, it goes missing again.
Uninstall it, reinstall the old version again and we’re back to being able to make noise.
So it appears that the issue I’m encountering involves 2.2.1 release. Now obviously I’m pleased that I’ve got a usable product again, but the update exists for a reason so I’m still interested in anyone’s help please!
Version 2.1.5 is the last that supports the RTAS plug-in format (.dpm) which is what Pro Tools 9 and earlier uses.
