All,
Using EZM2 with the newly released GarageBand 10 on the Mac crashes nearly every time, both on the individual tracks, as well as the master track. Seeing as how it didn’t do this in the previous version, I’m thinking it’s something on Apple’s end, however NI GuitarRig 5 and Fishman Triple Play do NOT crash it, so I don’t know. I just wanted to raise the issue.
Hi,
which version number is reported in the EZmix interface?
Are you using Mavericks?

John

Hey John,
For sake of the support request I should probably follow up the ticket I opened, but for the sake of others viewing, I’m indeed using Mavericks, and the version of EZM2 is the latest, 2.0.6, and it’s saying I’m running 64-bit. I’m guessing GB10 runs only 64-bit plugins, similar to Logic X.
Hope this helps. I will forward the crash report later tonight when I get home, so that’ll likely give a better indication. I realize being on such a new OS can sometimes cause issues with audio stuff, so I’m not upset. 😀 I’m one of those guys who has to update ASAP. I like shiny things.
I just wanted to raise the issue to Toontrack, not as a complaint, but just so you’re all aware.
thanks for the report. Just a FYI to keep you in the loop – we are currently investigating the issue and it seems that we are able to provoke crashes with Apple’s own Audio Units too, so at this stage we are leaning towards a problem in GarageBand, but we will keep looking for possible issues at our end.

I forwarded on the crash report last night, BUT: I’ve actually narrowed it down to using the iRig Pro as an input, and “System Setting” as output. It does only happen with Toontrack stuff, however full disclosure I really only use three plugins outside Apple: Toontrack EZM and EZD, and then occasionally NI GR5 and Fishman’s Triple Play.
However, switching to full “System Setting” doesn’t crash, nor does using my Steinberg UR22. So, I’m thinking it’s a GB10 problem as well at this point, one which is pretty easily worked around by just using a single device for input/output. Hopefully Apple fixes it, because using the iRig Pro is handy when I’m out and about.
Thanks guys, hopefully this helps anyone who may come across this know that it’s an Apple thing, however it’s easily worked around for now.
