Apologies up front for this question if the solution is painfully obvious. I recently installed EZKeys 1.2 but cannot get the sound to output through my PreSonus Firebox (which is a Firewire device). Other audio from my computer (such as youtube videos) go through the PreSonus Firebox just fine (and are then played/heard on my Focal monitors), but the EZKeys sounds are played back only internally on my iMac’s speakers.
I’ve made sure the PreSonus Firebox is selected in the “Sound” category of my Mac’s system preferences as the output device, and changing the selected input device (within the system preferences) seems to have no effect here. What’s odd to me is that within EZKeys, the Audio/Midi Setup dialogue box (under Settings) does not even show my PreSonus Firebox as a possible audio device. Instead, the only option there for Device Type is “Core Audio,” and the only option there for Output Device is “Built-in Output.” I’m running Mac OS 10.6.8 on a late 2007 iMac (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with 4GB of RAM. I’ve yet to try using EZKeys from within Logic Express 9 and maybe that would offer some sort of quasi-solution, but would prefer to be able to run EZKeys on its own when I want. Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts on this.
Yes,
that sounds a bit strange. Have you installed the Firebox Control Panel with Monitor mixer?
What happens if you select ‘Built-In’ as the output for your System first, does the PreSonus pop up in the EZkeys Audio/MIDI Settings if you launch it afterwards?
