I have an arrangement where I need to switch patches during the playback.

Let me break it down: I have 20 measures of a preset inside the Organ Library. On measure 21 I want to change the preset. I thought you could accomplish this by creating a second track in EXkeys and changing the preset, nope. If you change the one track the other changes.

I was hoping to avoid using an additional instance of EZKeys 2 on a different track in the DAW. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi there,

MIDI Program Change will allow you change presets and libraries from a MIDI Controller. Make sure you have Allow MIDI Program Change selected from the MIDI Input Settings tab.

there is no program change in a VST3 (thanks Steinberg) so Windows users are not able to use this function except in Pro Tools. it would have been nice, when the plugin developers knowing that (and they did based on the message saying they don’t support it right in the plugin…), the Toontrack folks kept a VST2 version so as not to exclude Windows users who don’t use Pro Tools.

Yes correct, I should have added the detail of “within standalone”. I didn’t know if the OP was working within a DAW or standalone, or which DAW.

In VST3 (EZKeys 2) there is a “Bank Select” toggle.

    Hey Brad,

I should have included that info. Logic Pro X not stand alone.

    Mac OS, Logic Pro

    Hi,

switching Library and Preset is done Bank MSB and Program Change. I posted a short video in a reply earlier on the Forum:

I have made a small screen recording where I draw in Bank MSB and Program Change – in this case I use Logic Pro but the principle is the same regardless of host – and when I hit play, you will see EZkeys change Library and Preset.

I have drawn in Bank MSB value ‘8’, which selects the 9th Library in my Library list (the first would have value ‘0’) and that is ‘HYBRID HARP’ and then I have drawn in value ’34’ for Program Change, which is the ‘Percussive Notes’ Preset.

It works the same with EZkeys 2 in Logic Pro, provided you have Enabled ‘Allow Program Change’ in the MIDI In Settings in EZkeys 2.

    BR,
    John
