I have no doubt that after the ground breaking features of Ezbass that an Ezkeys up grade will have to follow.

I just started using ezkeys again now after several days of ezbass  because ezbass inspired me,  it even has the add keyboard midi feature, and i was instantly frustrated that i could not use a midi grid editor or have more than a single song track,  I just got spoilt in ezbass!

It would seem that a lot of the ground work is done since SD3 and Ezbass have similar features too. I have no doubt that Ezkeys will adopt the same formula, since it looks like a winning one, and even more so when SD3, Ezbass, and ezkeys can be so tightly integrated.   let the secret out toon track! (or at least add the midi grid editor and an extra song track)

    Thanks

How do you move your assembled track in ez keys…to a track in your recording software?

Can only speak for Logic but you can just drag and drop the MIDI track to an instrument track

So, here’s my vision for EZKeys 2:

    1. Implement the same search functions found in other Toontrack products: tap 2 find, filters for library, genre, type, play style, time signature, resolution (including dotted rhythms as an option), and intensity.
    2. You can even improve the search and filter options by including…
      1. an “intensity” range. I’d love to be able to just find options in a specific range of intensity. (If the bar goes from 1-100, I sometimes want just the 20-40 section of the intensity range.)
      2. some way to select “hammered” and “arpeggio” kind of playing. This would actually make more sense if it was on a scale, much like the “intensity” bar. It would be awesome to be able to say I want midi that’s about 20% hammered chords and 80% arpeggio notes. Again, selecting a range of hammered/arpeggio-ness of the results would helpful. Building your database based on this information of the midi will help greatly in the “tap2find” function. I could tap out a hammered/arpeggio pattern and the program could find midi with the hammered chords and arpeggios in roughly the same location of the measure.

If just those two things happened, I would probably upgrade ASAP. It would greatly improve my workflow. But, here are some other things that could really take it to the next level (in order of awesome-ness):

    1. The whole program is separated by “left” and “right” hand. These form two different functions while playing anyway. It would be awesome to fuse the right hand of one midi file to the left hand of another midi file. Say, the left hand has sweeping arpeggios and the right hand plays some syncopated funky chords. Mixing and matching could lead to some awesome (or potentially not) combinations. The existing midi libraries could be split up into left and right hands with either machine learning or clever algorithm (please don’t split it at some arbitrary note like middle C).
      1. If this happened, then that would open up opportunities for making midi pack specific to pop/RnB/EDM that tend to favor synth parts that are just one hand. That could then open up possibilities for Synth EZKey expansions – not that there aren’t enough synth vst’s out there in the wild, but it would give you an opportunity to get into that market.
    2. Much like EzDrummer2, be able to add/subtract notes “intelligently”. This could also be separated into “add/sub hammered chords” or “add/sub arpeggiated notes”. It could also be specific to each hand.
    3. Include manual MIDI editing via piano roll or sheet music view.
    4. All the midi editing tools anyone could ask for – drawing in velocity curves, quantization/humanizing (with ability to adjust what and how much), etc. All the stuff I do in my DAW with editing midi – but in EZKeys itself.
    5. Add in LFOs, filters, etc.
    6. More sound expansions – venture into synths, samplers, etc. You could even make your own Rompler.

So I almost missed the 5 year anniversary  a week ago, from when I posted this tread.  Hate to see that milestone go by without its recognition.  On top of that, this is the 50th post in this tread.  Nuff said, other than we are all still waiting.

    Happy 5th Anniversary!

It’s a pity Toontrack couldn’t have seen their way to have, at least, acknowledged this thread one way or another.

I use Superior Drums, EZBass and, of course, still use EZKeys in my productions but that’s getting replaced more and more these days with the likes of Scaler and other plugins. I don’t like Toontrack’s deafening silence on this product so I’m kinda trying to find excuses not to use it, finding alternatives and certainly not investing in any more of their products (not that they’ll be the slightest bit bothered about that).

Pretty much given up on expecting any news about EZKeys 2 also so… Roger Victor! Over and Out!

New user here and considering how great the GUI for EZbass and SD3 are, I would also love to see an update to EZkeys. EZkeys with a next gen GUI similar to that of EZbass/SD3 would be epic!

why can’t I delete a loop I drag in the songwriting tool on a Mac

I don’t want to cut it…. I simply want to remove. I can’t right click and remove.

just wasted so much time looking and nobody explains this. makes me want to never use it

Try to click on it wants to highlight it (not right click), and try hitting delete while it is highlighted. I hope this works for you. Easy keys is so antiquated, that some of the most common tools require“Leftfield“ keystrokes. The workflow is painfully awkward in Easy keys 2.

Hoping for EZ Keys 2 with a MIDI editor just like EZBass / SD3. I’m using LUNA now and the MIDI editor within this otherwise great DAW is really a joke.

Please give feedback on what you’d like to see in EZkeys2.

I like to start the day with a good chuckle. This one-liner has been doing the job for more than 5 years now. Precious. 😆

SD3, EZD, EZ Keys 1&2, EZ Bass. Win10, i9/9900, all SSDs, 64g RAM, Cakewalk, Studio One

Well of course. I’m in charge of everything and know precisely Toontrack’s plan with all releases…5 years ago when I posted. Good call… glad you can point out a 5 year old post.

I’m a huge fan of EZkeys and have been using it extensively since the early releases. However it is looking tired and old compared to EZbass and although Scaler2 is quite the learning curve, you can do some very clever stuff with it if you persevere – so I am using that more and more in my creative workflow.

I still have a strong affinity for EZkeys and I’m fairly heavily invested in it (instruments and midi packs) but I do despair of the interface – which is increasingly painful to use in comparison with other virtual instruments.

An update (or even confirmed news of a planned one) would be very welcome.

I think there’s more than a few of us in your exact same position Andy. I do find it frustrating that Toontrack won’t respond to this and just let us know whether there’s a development roadmap for EZKeys or not. The silence is deafening! You’d almost think they enjoyed keeping us in the dark.

Like you, I’m beginning to use Scaler more and more but it’s still a long way off from being a threat to EZKeys that has been out on its own for so long. However, the old and tired GUI is quickly becoming a joke. Also, when you think of the potential this has if it acquired the same functionality as EZBass, it really would be a killer music app… that we’re still waiting for.
