Using EZDrummer and EX Keys whit Sonar X3.
EZKeys works perfectly.
When I opened a EZDrummer track I get the following message “”Audio engine inactive.Check your audio device. ”
I get sound out of EZKeys but not EZDrummer?
Please help…………..
Thank you
Gerry
Hi,
if my memory serves me correctly, the audio engine in Sonar can drop the connection to the audio hardware when idle.
This should be a setting that you can change in Sonar.
You are using both EZkeys and EZdrummer 2 as plug-ins inside Sonar, right, and not launching them standalone at the same time?

John

Yes John. Both as used as plup-ins.
When I use them as stand-alone, there is no issue. Both work fine.
Basically what I am trying to do, is that I have a drum track/sound in EZD2 that I like and would like to incorporate it
on a Sonar track that I am working. I was able to drag and drop the the EZD track ( using EZD as a stand-alone) in the
Sonar project. However, the sound that I get is not the same as the EZD track.
It is not the mirror image of the EZD track for one reason or other.
Thank you for any input as I am fairly new at this. Not a pro… just an amateur retiree trying to enjoy.12

Hi,
if you have a kit and MIDI on your Song Track in EZdrummer 2 standalone, you can save this as a Project. This Project file can be opened in the plugin inside Sonar as well, loading the sounds and MIDI.

Thank you John.
I was doing as you suggested with my same results.
However by trial and error I solved the problem.
I was entering the track as a Midi source track which was giving me the Audio device issue.
By entering the track as a Simple Instrument track, everything is now running smoothly.

EZdrummer version: 2.0.2
Operating system: macOS Mojave (10.14)
If you’re truly using EZD2 (v2.0.2) the first thing you should try is updating to the latest version (2.2.0).
