I don’t use Pro Tools or a Mac. But, for tech John to help, please let him know more of your system specs:

What version of Pro Tool 8 LE are you running (8.what)?
What Mac OS version are you  running?
What audio sound card are you running (internal or other)?

What buffer size have you set in PT?
Which external drive are you recording to?
    Which interface are you using.
Which version of OS X are you running? 10.6.x?

Been using PT for around 8 years, I can tell you now, you won’t get much performance out of 2GB.

PT 8 alone will take over 1GB.
OS X Snow Leopard requires at least 1GB of memory.

You’re already done and haven’t loaded anything up yet.

Have you tried using EZDrummer with solo? How does it perform without PT?

Just to add I can run Superior on a Mac G4 laptop in Pro Tools LE.
I’m running Superior and EZdrummer on an Intel iMac with 4gig RAM.
I know this isn’t solving the issue, but just saying it’s going to be possible to get it working. Not sure if the 2gig RAM is an issue (it could be).
