Hello all,
Recently I got a new pc on which I reinstalled Cubase 5 and EZdrummer 1.4.0. Now I want to work on an unfinished song, which I recorded on my old computer, so I transferred the files to open the same project on my new pc, but when I play back the song, the present drum parts on the drum track play back at half speed and tend to miss certain hits on the drums. I checked the tempo switch (1/2x, 1x, 2x) in EZdrummer. All the other tracks (bass, guitar, vocals) just work okay and go in correct speed. The BPM-settings are also the same as in the old project.
The weird thing is, that when I click on a groove in EZdrummer, it just plays like it should and in the correct BMP-speed. When I start the song and click on a random groove so EZdrummer plays along in real time with my song, all the speeds are correct.
I reinstalled older versions to match the exact situation on my previous computer: didn’t work.
I installed correct EZdrummer-updates: didn’t work.
I started a new project from scratch and added drums: didn’t work.
I opened other songs to see if they have the same problem: didn’t work.
I work with Windows 7 (64 bit system) and I set my song projects in Cubase at 44.100 and 16 bits. I work with the 32 bit update from EZdrummer
I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, so if anyone has the slightest idea: please help me!
Thank you!
Steven
This is strange because no setting in EZdrummer is changing how it plays MIDI that comes from the DAW. The multiplier (1/2x, 1x, and 2x) only affects the MIDI that is played from the EZdrummer browser.
If you preview a MIDI file in EZdrummer’s browser and then drag that MIDI to the DAW’s MIDI track, it should sound the same. It sounds like something has changed the tempo to the MIDI in your DAW, but that sounds strange too…

Indeed very weird. I tried your suggestion: I deleted all drums parts and dragged in new ones, but it didn’t work. When I playback the samples in the EZdrummer-player it all works, but when I drag it into Cubase I have the same problems again. Something must go wrong in the dragging maybe…

Is the Tempo set to “1X” in the browser? If it is, the MIDI should sound the same – as long as the EZdrummer you drag MIDI from is placed in the same project and DAW.
Is it possible that there’s a tempo change track that changes the tempo from where you listen to EZdrummer to where it actually plays when you play the MIDI from the track?

I’m afraid not
Also: the speed is not only slower, but also some drum hits are missed, so that seems very random. I will try to reinstall Cubase, maybe it helps. What do you think?

What happens if you try to create a new project and add drums – is the problem still there?
