    Well,

my first thought was that you are used to longer note durations but since you write that it does not matter it must be something peculiar to your DAW. I’m not a Samplitude user myself but one guess, regarding the “thin” state, that the stock MIDI you’re using has got its notes spread out over the octaves and Samplitude is zooming out vertically to display them, thus making them “thinner”. Can you zoom vertically only?
Does Samplitude display note colors after velocity? Can it be the Toontrack MIDI has more dynamics than your other MIDI?

I had this in cubase too. It’s just that the hits are (in non midi speak) quick. No sustain.
If you zoom out the downside is you get bigger “notes” but only 1 bar on the screen.
So this is what i did.

I highlight the whole segment (how many bars you have) with the cursor then go into the Midi edit page and increase note length .  Sorted.

Mostly we are dragging one or two bar sections out of EZDrmr ontothe arrange page so just do it when you do that. That way any duplication of the bar will have the longer notes.

    Hope that helps.
