    **SOLVED**

I found this in another forum. All you have to do is arm your EZ Drummer track for recording in your DAW. That’s it! That fixed it for me.

Hey Guys, I’m getting the same notification for EZDrummer 2; “Audio engine inactive. Check audio device.” I’m up to date with the software and am using Studio One as my DAW. Any Suggestions? I’m looking for the ‘release audio driver when idle” function but haven’t found it yet. Thanks.

Hey Mickey, I had this issue as well. For me, I discover that one of the buttons in my DAW that turns off or by-passes effects and plug-ins was inadvertently turned off. Not sure if I did it or thr updates to my DAW turned it off. I recommend looking around where EZDrummer 2 is connected into your DAWs tracks or bases to see if something was turned off or changed.

I hope this helps. I know it is very frustrating.

I’m having the same issue for EZDrummer 2; “Audio engine inactive. Check audio device.”

I only get a very distorted sound with a lot of reverb, both from the software drum set and my Alesis drum kit.

    I use Asio4all as a driver.

    Hi Snorri_1,

is this in Standalone or in a DAW? If DAW, which one and version?
Have you checked for updates on the driver?

This thread is is so old, but I’ll still respond. I’m having the same problem in Logic, using Superior Drummer or EZ Keys. Its happens if I leave the drummer window and go to Logic, or even if I just let things sit for a while without doing anything. Up until this morning, my only workaround was to close and re-open Logic. But then I discovered if I go LogicPro –> file–> project settings –> audio, and toggle from 44 to 48 sample rate and back again, the problem clears. It’s not a great solution, but I like it more than having to close Logic.

I didn’t read this until I had already typed my previous response. Yes, arming a Logic track for recording the EZ plug-in immediately cleared the message for me. Thank you. But, it doesn’t help prevent the message from coming up if I leave the program idle for a minute or two. It would be great to solve this on a more permanent basis.

In Logic Pro X the common cause is that EZ Drummer is being shut off because it believes its instrument track is empty.  Either putting a blank region in the track or disabling the feature in the preferences should take care of this.
