I’m having the opposite problem, it seems. Using EZDrummer as an AU plugin on a Mac is working fine, but I get the “Audio engine inactive” error when trying to run the stand-alone app.

Hi guys, two things to check:

if your DAW has some kind of preference that looks like ‘release audio driver when idle’ or similar enabled.

if your hardware has something similar in a dedicated control panel.

Also make sure your EZdrummer 2 software is updated (I see the latest entries are on the current software but just pointing it out for others).

    John

I also am having the same issues.  But now ALL sound. Cant even just play it on the computer. It worked for about a week  and I managed to actually get it into the latest Reaper V.6.  Then I got  the same error mess as the rest of you. It wont play in Reaper. and now even the “beat” I created and saved on my computer wont play on its own.   Also. I cant get Reaper to post it in the available Vst pluggins list even though its in the preferences profile. HELP !

To Stephen and all the other gents.  SO.. this is what little I figured out for ME with REAPER, not sure if this will apply for all.

If I switch the FX off on my TRACK, {( which is giving me the VST instrument ((EZD)) on  the track)….the ” AUDIO ERROR” will appear on my EZD lower

rt. corner. Switching the FX back on the track with dispose of the “error mess”, however. it kills the audio for THAT  dialog box with THAT  kit in it….

so if I simply open another kit off the browser…whala ,,, a kit with audio again !   I really hope that helps some of you.

Fix for this issue in Renoise:

Edit -> Preferences -> Plug/Misc -> Run all plugins in sandboxes

Not really an update,  just chiming back in to see if anyone has solved this..
It also does this in Reaper, so I now know it’s not Cubase 10 or my Win7-64-bit machine that’s the issue,  I have two machines.

one “solution”,  to make the audio driver not ready message  disappear, is to play the song creator, maybe leave it on a loop,  then it doesn’t happen.

this is verison 2.1.8,  so  PLEASE Toontrack investigate,

you guys just released EZBass,  and I refuse to purchase it (like many others) based on EZD2 not functioning as it should.

I’ve made a small OBS video to highlight the issue,

You can find the link  here –  http://www.steveforward.com/EZD2_error.mp4     (15.1mb)

I’ve uploaded it to YouTube too:  https://youtu.be/prodXaEIslE

Good luck guys!  *(and stay safe!)

    *****EZDrummer2  Update**

Only a small minor update here guys,   but  this is “kind of”  of   “fix”  for this message..

I’ve tried everything, so I’m hoping this little “trick” will help the devs in sourcing the isse and releasing a fix with the next update?!

Getting the audio driver inactive message?      click on the red  “record” button in EZDrummer’s Song Creator panel at the bottom. it will make the Play button flash orange, but this solved all the issues for me.

Come on TT,  I’m waiting to buy EZBass, but will refuse to do so unless you release a fix for this issue.

sorry, nope, this doesn’t help.   only workaround so far, is to either enable the record button in EZD2’s Song Creator panel at the bottom, or press play on a loop with a blank part in the Song Creator.

hope this helps you to identify the issue guys.

I’m using Logic Pro (2 versions – 10.4, 10.5 on 2 different MacBook Pros running Yosemite and Catalina) – all the Toontrack products that I have exhibit this problem.  EZ Keys, EZ Drummer 2 and EZ Bass.  This is an irritating problem and now I see it isn’t necessarily Apple’s fault which is a huge surprise.  Sorry Apple, I’ve been blaming you this last year and it’s really Toontrack’s issue.

This message is shown if the host hasn’t asked the plug-in to render audio for a while, which is not something plug-ins can control. Is the problem that you’re not getting any sound or that the message is incorrectly being shown?

When I drag my midi to the Midi Drop Zone, I’m getting the same error.
AUDIO ENGINE INACTIVE, CHECK YOU AUDIO DEVICE
EZDrummer don’t play any sound after that. Is there a setting to avoid this error?
I really need to use this drop zone. I’m using latest Bandlab.

Is there any solution meanwhile? Comparing Cubase 9 and 10.5, this bug only make problems in Cubase 10.5. Who is responsible, Toontrack or Steinberg?

However, we are still waiting for a result or real information how to resolve that problem..
