Hi, I use Mixcraft 8, EZD2 and Focusrite 2i2. When I open EZD in Mixcraft, EZD shows ”audio engine inactive, check you audio device” in the bottum right corner. Thanks

Problem solved on my end. It was, indeed, self-inflicted. I maxed out the buffer to 4096 samples thinking I’d be saving some CPU power (?), but ezdrummer apparently did not like that at all. I reduced it to 512 samples and everything is fine. YMMV. I’ll see myself out…

Thanked by: Ben McLaughlin and Henrik EkblomGuys, I have had Cubase Teamviewer in twice (Jan Reisener – Senior Technical Support) It’s definitely an issue arising from Cubase 10 and EZD2 latest version.
And yes, Sometimes the MIDI does actually crap out. I’ve had to switch back to another drum plugin sadly while you guys get it fixed.

One thing I have noticed.
In the TABS on EZD2, if you select DRUMS, and left click anywhere on the Cubase 10 Project Window, the audio driver not ready message appears.. same for BROWSER, same for SEARCH, yet on the MIXER tab, it is not doing it.
which, again, points firmly at some sort of code/bug error in 2.1.8 of EZD2 guys, hope you can help!

haha, spoke too soon, no, it’s doing it on all tabs.

Same issue, running latest version of EZ Drummer 2 on Cubase 10.0.20 Build 187, Mac OS Mojave ver. 10.14.5
I got same problem “Audio engine inactive check your audio device” ….. and I don’t know how to fix on 2 windows pcs (windows 7 pro 64bit) and (Windows 10 home 64 bit )
Any update on this? I’m getting the same using Reaper. It’s super frustrating considering the cost I laid down for this and some EZXs.
I initially was running an old version of Reaper when I first purchased EZdrummer2. Worked perfectly. Against my better judgment, I finally upgraded Reaper and now EZdrummer2 is garbage. Tried putting Reaper back to the version I previously had and EZdrummer2 is still garbage.
I was praising this to all my buddies but wouldn’t wish this in my worst enemy. Refund?

Thanked by: Brick Fist PowI finally was able to get it working but had to revert back to a version prior to 2.1.8. Unfortunately the search function doesn’t work anymore. I hadn’t used that a lot so I’m going to sit tight with a workable version for now until I see that the issues are fixed.
I’m unimpressed there’s been no movement on this issue or word from TT to resolve this other than an acknowledgement that the Devs are aware that it’s an issue, but no commitment to a fix or an ETA has been forthcoming.
If I was the product manager for EZD I’d be on the warpath to get this fixed considering that they advertise that they support the DAW’s experiencing these issues and that a fairly substantial portion of their user base is likely to be impacted. I’d also be unimpressed that it wasn’t picked up in QA prior to deployment. I guess it’s commonplace for most software companies to expect their user base to identify bugs these days, so maybe I expect too much.
Either way, I’m currently using a competitors product for my needs that doesn’t impact my workflow as much.
it is frustrating for sure. Usually when bugs of this kind happen, it takes ages for companies to iron them out. Mainly because they don’t really know what’s causing it. Usually because their own “test” systems have nothing but their own products on them.
For this very reason alone, and despite being a HUGE ToonTrack fan, I have been most unimpressed, as I use EZD2 on a daily basis for paid work by clients. I’m not very impressed with Steinberg frankly either, Cubase 10 is a complete cowpat of a DAW right now, such a shame. Good job I have 8.5 to fall back on.
The thing that gets me, is that they look at you like it’s your machine, or your end, that is to blame, like an accusational finger as it were 🙂 but in reality, in most case that may be true, still, we’ve paid for a product, that is not behaving how it should, and on 99.9% of cases, it’s because we’ve done what they’re always telling us to do.. namely, “update to our latest (and fastest, and more stable) version.
after running windows XP for nigh on 12 years, with zero system updates, not one, I have to say those years, were the most trouble free I ever had. Cubase 6.5 ran like butter, smooth as silk, and nothing ever went wrong.
It’s the main reason why I will never, ever upgrade to Win10. which is also another cowpat to avoid.
Everywhere I look, all these rich, and powerful companies, telling us to buy their products. yet most of them, are cowpats.
MoooooO!

I am having the same problem with Reaper 5.980. SD3 works when I play in Reaper, but when I try to play anything in SD3, the sound stops after a few seconds and I get ”AUDIO ENGINE INACTIVE, CHECK YOU AUDIO DEVICE”.
Hi Brick Fist Pow,
did you check these Audio settings in the Reaper Preferences?

John

I emailed Toontrack Support again about this two days ago and haven’t received a response. I am seeking a refund for recent EZX expansion libraries purchased as I believe Toontrack is in breach of its T&C’s as Cubase is stated as a supported platform and this ongoing problem fundamentally impedes my workflow. These purchases were made within the last 90 days so I believe I am entitled to return the licenses for these products as I cannot use them as intended. Had I purchased the core EZD2 product within the 90 day period stated in the T&C’s I would request a refund that as well…
Please comply with this request.
I am also having this problem on Mac 10.13.6 using Logic 10.4.6…already reinstalled, deleted Logic cache, nothing…any Logic users have any luck?
