generally i have been using my multichannel track template in my DAW for ezdrummer2
Now I have just been setting Kick, 1, Snare 2, hit hat 3, tom 4 etc etc…
Now that i am ready to have a friend record final drums, i am wondering if I have set this the optimum way
For example, in Pop/Rock kit, when clicking multichannel in the mixer ( or double clicking on the kick 1 ), it sets up multichannel for you. I notice that it sets it up a bit different
Kick 1, Snare 2, Hi hat 4, Toms 5, OH 6, Amb 7, Comp 10, Reverb 9, Dist 10, one shot 11, Shaker 12, Tamb 13, Perc Amb14
Can someone explain why output 3 and 8 would be not present, and whether this has anything to do with how you should be setting up stereo tracks?
We try to provide a default multi-out template that works the same
for all presets in all EZXs. Output 3 is the snare bottom mic, if it
is available. That channel is not there in all presets but if you select
Original Mix you will see it. Output 8 is a mono ambience. There is no
such thing in POP/ROCK. It is there in Modern, though.

ok, I see thanks.
So in regards to stereo, if I record midi initially, then when rendering these out to separate audio tracks, i should render each as mono except for the mics that have a Pan right channel/pan left channel config?
Yes. The channels that look like mono channels in the EZ mixer will
output the same signal into the left and right channels of the outputs.
All outputs are stereo by configuration but if they contain a mono signal
then there is no point in saving both channels on disk.
