Your audio card/interface needs to have a multi client audio driver to be able to let several applications access it simultaneously. Yours may not have the capability.

I have Roland Rubix 44 usb  audio interface.

When I use EZDrummer as a plug in only. I can switch from Reaper to a CD to You Tube to mp3 player no problem. So I think the audio card is multi.

Only after using EZDrummer standalone does the problem occur.

You have the Roland audio device selected as the driver in EZD2 standalone?

Yes I have the Roland audio device selected as the driver in EZD2 standalone.     But this is now solved –

I got a reply from  support@toontrackab.zendesk.com who said : ” may occur when the computer is using a sample rate higher than 44.1 kHZ. The EZD2 standalone internally uses a sample rate of 44.1 kHz. In this instance try having the sample rates match, using a sample rate of 44.1 kHz via the Playback Devices/Properties area for the PC”  Indeed the PC was set at 16 bit 48 khz, which I changed to 24 bit 44.1 khz and I unchecked the “allow exclusive control” box.

Now I can have EZ up standalone and switch over to a how-to You Tube video and hear it or play MP3s.

    Yay.
