I have EZDrummer 1.2.1 installed (host is Reaper under XP) and I’m trying to upgrade to 1.4.0 via 1.3.0 and 1.3.1.
I keep getting a Windows Installer error message – “This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.”
As far as I can see the updaters are in the right folders so I’d be very grateful for any suggestions.
Regards,
Mike
Is there an error code?
You should be able to upgrade directly from 1.2.1 to 1.4.0 by downloading, unzipping, and running the v1.4.0 update.

I initially tried to update directly to 1.4.0 and got the error message above. No error code generated. I then tried to go via 1.3.0, etc. and got the same message.
Try uninstalling EZD and download the 1.4.0 full product and install that.

OK, that’s worked. Thanks very much.
I’m now having the same problem with SD2.3.0. It won’t update and I get the same error message. I can’t see where to uninstall this, though. There is a “Superior Drummer Installer” in Add/Remove Programs under XP; if I uninstall that will I be able to re-install the original SD crossgrade package?
Uninstall the plugin and install 2.3.1 from your Toontrack account.

I looked in Add/Remove Programs and all I found in relation to SD2 was ‘Superior Drummer Installer’. I clicked ‘Remove’ and followed the prompts, but on restarting Reaper SD2 was still in my VST Plugins folder and it loaded as usual.
At that point I decided to run the original installation from disk (nearly an hour); this gave me v2.2.1.
I downloaded the v2.3.1 update from My Account (again) and when I tried to run it I got the error message I started with at the top of this thread.

Mike
Hi,
if you still could load the plugin after uninstalling, it means that you have manually moved or copied the .dll file at some point, which makes the updater procedure malfunction, since the updater can only “know” where the .dll was installed initially, not where it has been moved/copied.
Please perform a Search for ‘Superior Drummer.dll’ and delete all entries that show up then run the 2.3.1 updater again.
Please make sure you have fully extracted the ZIP archive (right-click and ‘Extract all…’) before you run the updater, not merely browsing the ZIP.
Next, instead of manually moving the .dll file, please point your host to the location of the .dll file.
Also, reinstalling from DVD for an hour can only mean that you reinstalled the Sound Library, which is not necessary. You will need to apply the Sound Library 1.4.0. update again.

I haven’t moved or copied the dll.
There is only one Superior Drummer.dll on the hard drive, which is in C:Program filesVstPlugins. This is the only plugin folder on the computer and also the only path set in Reaper.
I have, however, deleted it and followed your suggestions. Everything now appears to be working as it should.
Thanks.
