I think i got it to work. I copied the ezdrummer.dll to the steinberg plug-ins folder. At least now Cubase recognise it as a VST Instrument. Now I need to learn all the rest, lol! Anyway, its looks brighter… 🙂

    Well,

moving the dll file post install is begging for trouble, I’m afraid.
There’s no way an updater will know where you put the .dll, among things.
You are supposed to either point Cubase to the location where you installed the EZdrummer dll or Custom install the EZdrummer plugin to where you want the dll to end up.

I strongly recommend uninstalling EZdrummer and reinstalling.

Yes, you need to set Cubase to scan the folder the DLL was originally in. Go to Devices>Plugin Information. Click VST 2.x Paths and select the correct folder. Then click Update and everything should be fine.

    Hi!

I tried to point Cubase to the folder where EZ drummer installed its .dll but Cubase kept crashing everytime (aka “not responding”)…

So, you really suggest I should re-install EZ Drummer?

Btw, I’m going to check out that link now… Edit: Oh, it looks like it was a link to my own (this) thread, guess you moved the thread to a more appropriate forum.

    Thanks,

Well you don’t HAVE to reinstall EZdrummer but, as John pointed out, the next EZdrummer update that we release will not work for you if you dedide you want to update. If you’re ok with that, then ok.

Well first of, many thanks for your replies. 🙂

Secondly, I did try to solve the problem like you said and reinstalled Ezdrummer. But same problem repeated itself just like before. Cubase didn’t list Ezdrummer as a plugin and when I pointed it to the correct folder with the ezdrummer.dll (it default installed itself inside folder called “Program”, thats swedish for “Program Files”) it crashed again and I dont know why thats happening and how I can avoid it to happen again. So, as of now I’m left with the only option to copy the .dll to the VstPlugin folder in the Cubase folder and everything works fine. I do understand any future update for Ezdrummer will not see this change of folder but what the hell… I probably can get by without an update, can I?

Thirdly, when I installed EZdrummer it wouldn’t let me choose the install path, said I needed to be administrator…but uhhh? I am the administrator of this machine at my home, and it only has one account which is an administrator account too (I just checked). Im on a Dell machine that is cirka 3 years old with Windows Vista Home Premium, service pack 2. I even removed the guest account. So what gives?

Anyhow, thanks again for all your replies! I’m sure this will sort itself in time. I might try a third install later on… As of now I’m happy rocking it out in Cubase! 😉
