Loving my EZD3 upgrade so far but keep running into this issue and wanted to see if anyone else experienced it or if it was possibly discussed on an earlier thread someone could point me to. I’ll start a new project and drag various “grooves” down into the work area to begin editing and altering them both with the “Grid Editor” and in real time by using my mouse to click on the drum set in real time while in record mode within a specific groove. Everything works great the first day or so of the project but inevitably by the second day I’m no longer able to click on the live drums with my mouse in time with the beat as a lag begins to occur. So… first day no issues with hitting the drum set in time with my mouse. Next time I come back to the project a lag is in place so there’s a small delay when I click the drums with my mouse making it next to impossible to play in time with the groove. At that point, I can only add extra drum hits into the groove with the grid editor manually with any accuracy. Even then, every time I drag a groove to work on far away to the right from the blocks of grooves I’ve strung together for the song it somehow attaches/merges itself with the last groove block of the song after I complete my Grid Editor changes. Again, the groove block I’m working on is many inches away from the other blocks within the work area so I have no idea why it’s jumping back to merge with the others after I use the Grid Editor? I then have to go back and cut it out of the merged block and drag it away only to have it happen again next time I edit it with the editor. But that’s probably for another post – let’s stick with the live drum lag mouse issue if possible. Never experienced this lag issue with my EZD2 before I upgraded.
So… any ideas why my “live drums” begin to lag with my mouse hits after I return to them the next day after functioning normally before? I’m in Windows 10 with the latest version of Reaper as my DAW. I noticed right away after the EZD3 upgrade it needs a lot more of my computer’s resources than EZD2 did so perhaps my CPU is no longer up to the job and creating the lag? What I should I check for this possibility? Any advice is appreciated – thanks!
